So I am starting a build thread to share with everyone although I am about 85% done I think. So here is my back story story first. I just retired from the Navy after 30 years and the wife and I are now empty nesters now too. So about 3 years ago watching the travel channel I saw and fell in love with teardrop trailers and have wanted to build one ever since I saw them. So I started crawling the internet and have been amazed by the all the options and styles of the different teardrops out there. Anyway to keep from writing a whole book on this when the wife and I where returning from a wonderful camping trip up in Yosemite we was discussing our options about me getting a job after I retire from the Navy and where we might live I suggested we build a teardrop and just travel for a few years. Overlanding and boondocking exploring the country. As far north as Alaska and maybe as far south as Chili. Pretty scary thought at this phase of our lives but also just as exciting and so I sold my Harley and we started selling much of our stuff from the house and I began the trailer build.
I finally decided on the Benroy design taking my insperation from the Moby 1 XTR and Beth and Jim's awesome CrowsWing design. I also knew I wanted to go for a trailing arm suspension used on the Adventure Trailer teardrop and after much going back and fourth with them to get a frame built it just didn't work out so I decided to build my own and use the new bolt on trailing arm suspension that I bought from etailers but more on that later.
I'll post most of the pictures I have so far to bring everyone up to date on where I am at now and now that I am not so rushed on time I'll be able to keep this updated as I make progress.
