First Time Build United Kingdom

Postby Bgg » Tue Apr 01, 2014 1:38 pm

Hi to all,

Like so many before me I have been lurking on the sidelines for many months picking up an enormous amount of hints and tips from our friends across the pond and always amazed at the knowledge and skills shown by so many build journals.
Anyway I have decided to post my moderate build for you to have a look at and comment on. Not sure what design you would call my TD it seems to me to be an amalgamation of lots of different TD. I will not waffle on too much but will just post my pics for you all.... Pics to follow shortly. :pictures:116890116891116892116893116894116895116896116897116898116899116900116901116902116903116904118501118502118503118504118505118506118507118508118509118510118511118512118513118514118515118516118517118518118519118520118521

Looks like you made a great start there! That's in interesting door solution.... Is that recycled off an old caravan as we would call it (travel trailer stateside?)

Yep that's right the door is off a old caravan, worked well for me as my woodworking skills are on existent. Learning as I go along and enjoying every minute well almost...

Welcome BGG.. nice loooking tear you have going. That's one hell of a set of visible stop/tail marker lights. Are they made for trailers or off of something else? Good luck and keep us posted.

Yep the lights are for trailers got them off the internet, I think they are a bit too big. I may change them in the future but they will do for now.

Here's what my TD started off as a 4 x 3 basic trailer I had so I built up over the wheels to create 4 x 6 I don't need to sleep in my TD as we sleep in my V Dub. I just really wanted it for storage and a simple galley to cook in, so far so good.

Hi Grant thanks for your comments about my tv (not sure what that stands for but I assume my V Dub). I hope to be fitting the Albert Jagger hinge you put me onto this weekend so fingers crossed if I follow your video clip I should have no problems.

Looking good - they just look so right with the old black and white number plates on - worth getting an old TD for even!

Just to mention it - are you aware that there is a teardrop builders (and users!) club in the UK? http://www.tcgb.org.uk/

Folk there meet up from time to time if you are interested.
