Another Vardo build

Postby stonykill » Fri Jul 11, 2014 4:12 pm

Completed stage 1 yesterday.

Image

Stage 2 is converting this free pile of lumber into usable boards. This is only some of the pile. I had already started denailing and working the boards when I took this pic. The 4 x 6's are going to be used in a different project.

Image

After a few hours of work I have a good start on it. Still a lot to do.

Yup, my shop is a disaster. Always is :?

Hauled everything home with my trusty low budget S10

that and my 20 inch Grizzly planer. You can see the pile of planer shavings in the one pic.

The old powermatic saw was a great find. Swapped repairing a rototiller for it.

corbels on and the "foundation" done. Tapered front and rear wall started. Glued up the wood for the bows. They aren't pictured. Tomorrow I make the front and rear bow and start framing the side walls. :D

Vardo looks good. Yes, we care. We may not always comment, but we look.

This is a great site but it is a shame people don't comment more as it is very disheartening otherwise.

Looking good there. I used a lot of second-hand timber on mine too, except mine came from broken up shipping pallets so not quite as nice as yours. I am interested in the corbels - will watch with interest to see what you do with those.

Yum. Those are some great looking chops!

I think sometimes people have a hard time commenting if they don't understand the big picture, where you are headed.

Your work is nice and tidy.
