Thanks Kaz. We just went through 2 weeks of -30 to -40. Thank goodness next week is a warming trend for us. Sounds like a powerful snow blower would be your friend tomorrow. :)

Just a couple of more photos of the newly installed headliner after the bracing was removed.

Working on the interior shelves. Very simple, two 3/4" birch plywood shelves that will be capped with 3/4" thick cherry that is 3" high.

Finished putting the shelf fronts on the interior shelves. The green tape is to hold everything tight while the adhesive dries. Also, used the router to open up the hole for the Fan-Tastic roof vent. A good weekend.

Here are the shelves without the green tape. Also, I capped the edge of the plywood in the galley today with cherry molding. The drawers and cabinet doors will be an inset style. I am working up the courage to start on the hatch. This is my first attempt at really building anything out of wood so I am learning a lot along the way. Bryan

Looks good Bryan. Maybe I missed it, but what are you using for a finish on the wood ?

The exterior will be .040 aluminum, and the interior will be finished in Spar Urethane in satin finish. Thanks for the inquiry, Bryan

Alaskan Benroy

Postby ratrod71 » Sat Mar 28, 2015 5:15 pm

Spent a couple of hours today sanding the first coat of spar varnish on the inside and in the galley to get it ready for the second coat. Had to take the last couple of weekends off on the build to spend time with my kids that were home on college spring break. Very worthwhile. Got out my Ebay purchase of Melamine dishes to test fit them in the galley. I know, I know, silly but please humor me. Bryan

Alaskan Benroy electrical system

Postby ratrod71 » Sat Apr 11, 2015 6:44 pm

Started wiring today. Mounted the battery and fuse panel. Then ran the wires through the bulkhead and to the interior 12V recepticle mounted below the lower shelf, and along the floor to the front of the trailer to start up the roof. Also positioned the interior lights that mount to the ceiling. I glued wooden backing blocks to the inside of the headliner for the interior lights to screw into them. I am going to run only a 12V system. It is the minimalist in me. Bryan
