My First Teardrop build...woohoo!!!

Postby Bob Loblaw » Thu Feb 19, 2015 11:08 pm

After seeing lots of factory made teardrops on the road and recently at the local Sportsman's show I googled "DIY Teardrop trailers." There are so many resources out there for building these amazing little travel trailers. I came across this forum and have been inspired by all of the extremely creative ideas that people have. So it's official I started building my own. I'm using a HF 4'x8' trailer as my frame/base. I haven't decided on the shape just yet but it's going to be a Belroy, Superleggera or a variation of the cub.

Here's what I have so far, the trailer has been built and I spray painted it flat black-

Good to see that you understand it's only the first. Once you start it's hard to stop.

Have fun with your build. Looks like you're in my neck off the woods. I too am in Clark County. I'm slowly building my teardrop with hopes of being camping by Memorial Day weekend. There are many good places too find material in the Portland/Vancouver area. I'd suggest Shur-Way for plywood. They have a good selection and decent prices. I even found some 5x5 plywood I can use for my cabinets and roof (I'm doing a 5' width).
