Gray Goose Egg Explorer/Chuckwagon Build

Postby rogersmomma3 » Mon May 11, 2015 2:32 pm

I spend my childhood vacationing with my family in an RV that my Grandpa built. It was a army bus conversion that he painted a shiny silver/gray and somehow it got the nickname "Gray Goose". In honor of my awesome grandpa and the wonderful memories made in the Gray Goose I am naming my trailer build the Gray Goose Egg. I'm using a 4x5 utility trailer that we inherited and building an camping trailer on top. The back will be a galley kitchen and the front half will have a couple compartments for hauling our camping gear. I'm trying to do this cheap and quick, so chances are good that it won't be very pretty. I started today by removing the plywood floor, the motorcycle ramp, and the extra metal tie down rod. Replaced the floor with 3/4" pressure treated plywood. Also, I did a lot of standing around, thinking, figuring, scratching my head, measuring, and planning for the next step. I can't get my pictures to load right now. :(

Here is what I started with. This was previously used to haul motorcycles and had a tool box mounted on it.

And now I'm ready to start building. Removed the old floor, a motorcycle ramp, and an extra metal tie down rod. Replaced the top with 3/4" PT plywood. It's a slightly smaller floor now because the old floor extended past the frame of the trailer and I wanted to stick within the frame and within the 4' width of the plywood. Here we go!!
