My wife and I have been dreaming of a TD for a couple years now, so I've been in lurk mode while I gathered ideas and perused your resources.
Recently we'd almost totally decided on the basics of the 2+2 design. In keeping with what appears to be the norm, it won't be exactly as the plans show, we've just *got* to make some tweeks.
About two months ago, we decided this was going to happen, and it was going to start this year. So I began in earnest looking what we needed.
Chassis first, so I started pricing steel and looking at where to get the axle I wanted.
While visiting my parents and toodling around their little town, we saw a trailer that looked, to the naked eye, to be darn close to what we were looking for.
Coming back with a measuring tape, we found it to not only be darn close, but to be so close to exactly what we want as to be too good to be true.
The price they were asking was more than I was willing to pay, but thankfully they came down to reasonable, and it followed us home.

It started life as a boat trailer, and someone turned it into a utility trailer.
5000lb axle and 2inx4in tube frame is more than I need for our build.
Welding work isn't anything to write home about, but it'll come off easily enough to get down to what we need.
So now our dream of a TD, albeit a rather obese one, can truly begin.
Plan details are bouncing about our heads and materials are being discussed.
I'll be spending more time on here then I probably should and I'm sure I'll be asking tons of questions.
Thanks for watching as our project starts to take shape!
