The Magic Bus

Postby Travellingchris » Sun Sep 06, 2015 7:23 pm

Welcome to the Magic Bus build, Its been about a month since I actually started. We were hoping to get a Westfalia look for our tiny trailer, it unfortunately won't turn out that way... Pictures are coming soon. Walls are made out of 3inch house insulation, wooden floor frame, a bit of framing for the roof (snow can get heavy during winter) all wrapped up in fiberglass ;)

Here are the things I have to finish before winter:
-Make a frame for the backdoor
-Wire the trailer lights
-Shape the foam
-Fill in the gaps
-Cover the whole thing in fiberglass
-Make the doors and window

And those are picture of the camper I took this morning:

I can't get anything done  must be the beer

135727

I actually rounded some of the edges

135729

Wired one of the taillights

135730

And insulated most of the floor

135728

For the interior I think I will glue thin OSB boards to the foam.. Any comments on that? Advice or other ideas ?

Is that a Westfalia trailer or a VW Westfalia bus you are going for?

It is just my opinion, OSB is heavy and probably would also give up some vapors to inside.
I glued 1/8" baltic birch plywood inside my foamie trailer build.
Am really curious about your fiberglass epoxy lamination, where are you getting your epoxy from?
There must be a chemical company in Quebec who would have a very good price epoxy, are you getting that from them?
One distributor I saw is this http://www.hl-plasto.com/Default.asp but I know there is a manufacturing or maybe blending company in Quebec that makes epoxy.
I forgot their name (Chimique ..? ).

Here are a couple of pictures of our 1962 Westfalia trailer.100470100469
We plan to make a guest trailer out of it.
