My Son and I started this project

Postby andymilich » Wed Mar 16, 2016 9:50 pm

so we found a great trailer on craigslist 6x10. So we decide to start building a hunting trailer for ourselves. We went a little bigger than normal as we are going to run a small bunk across the trailer for my little daughter when she wants to go hunting with us. (give my wife a break:) )

here is where we are at so far....

any suggestions appreciated.

thanks

Looks like you're beyond this point, but I'd stay away from fiberglass insulation. It can tend to hold moisture. A layer of rigid insulation would have been more than enough, and you could have had some in-floor storage for extension cords or whatever else you can fit in the floor cavity. Otherwise, looking good!

Yes, you look to have a good sturdy foundation for your trailer. But 2x4 s may have been overkill?
Remember your are not building a house, and teardrops are all about "weight".
Thanks for the pictures, and we hope to follow along with your build.

Good job getting your son involved. Some of my fondest memories of my youth was when I helped my father build something.....boat, camper and a garage.

I thought about that, and then I realized I am in Arizona and mostly travel in Arizona. It may rain like 10 days a year here....if we are lucky...:)
