Thanks Mick. It was a labor of love!

Yeah, until I discovered tnttt I had never heard of Benroy. After about six years of viewing build journals its classic style is still my favorite. Many decades of this design shows it was a good one. I don't know the history of Benroy but I am now curious and will do some research.

Andy's first stop after he left the build garage was his in-laws lake place in N Wisconsin. And before the sun set yesterday his wife Katie had put in her personal touches to make it a home away from home. Lots of small enhancements to add still. Isn't that always the case?

Beginning to trick out the galley. It's pretty basic for now. They wanted to use it a few times to get a feel for a final layout. Ice chest worked out. And the bluetooth speakers look great in there. I've stressed that the first task should be a safe prop rod. When they get home I hope he follows my advice before someone bumps that stick and knocks the bejesus out of them.

Just before leaving last Saturday Andy took the TD for a trial tow. On his way out of my driveway the A-frame jack scraped the concrete. We discussed adding pipe spacers to raise the jack up a bit to avoid most scrapes. After thinking about it I remembered the Jack-E-Up adapter that someone posted a couple weeks ago. After some research we found that Northern Tool has them for under $60. So Andy picked one up in Milwuakee the other day. One complication is the plate I had fabricated to mount the a-frame jack is too close to the NT trailer coupler frame member. Three options I am thinking about right now. Maybe someone else can suggest more.

- Add the pipe spacers to raise the Jack-E-Up a couple inches.
- Cut the coupling frame member (the black U shaped steel the coupler mounts on). I don't think cutting a small radius out of the back will compromise the strength.
- Have my local steel plate supplier make a new, larger a-frame mounting plate. They only charged me $18 (I gave him $25) to cut the shape, drill the jack hole and put strengthening bends on the front and back edges.

Looks like he is going to go the modify the black coupler mount route.

Looks great, Tim. Nice colors. I also like the size of that spare. I've had my eye out (off and on) for a 14" donut spare with alum hub (I think you said your tires were 13").

Thanks for the compliment John. Your TD is gonna be a looker! I hope I can see it someday in person.

The wheels on Andy's foamie are 13" and the spare in the photo is a 12" (stock cheapie that comes with the NT trailers... good enough for a spare). My woodie has 13" wheels and a 13" spare. Someday I might swap out the spare for a 12". But for now the 13" is bolted up under my chassis and I'm not very motivated to change it. Also, when I looked a cheap 12" wheel/tire combo is over $80 (4 On 4" bolt pattern not available everywhere like 5 on 4.5"). The weight savings is not much incentive. I'll wait until my next NT teardrop build and I'll steal a wheel from that kit. Of course my bride will have killed me for starting another TD before I get the chance. :o

Continuing the work on the triangle jack mount. Andy has quite a bit of fab work to make it work. I suspect most folks would just be able to bolt it on. Will report after his first camping trip this weekend his thoughts on its use.

The artist has been at work. Blue painter's tape still on in these pics. And it looks like some sort of track device for bike fork mounts being dry fit on the tongue box.

I really liked the idea of the top vent over a fan. It looks good and I'm thinking about borrowing it. I was curious about how the fans worked with it. I liked that it makes a nice clean location for the Dole light as well.

Thanks for the compliments. Andy and Katie are quite happy with the results and continue to make improvements like drawers and other finishing touches in the galley and cabin.

The rear facing vent with four 120mm 12v case fans work great. Though in an effort to get the TD on the road I hacked together a "plug" sort of thing to keep water and other things from entering when on the road and not in use. In the one photo of the rear exterior the blacked out area inside that vent is actually the solid section and the brown is the "temp" plugs. I think the vents should have been bigger but they serve the purpose.

The one trip I was on with them they went to bed late in the evening the first night and forgot to unplug the vents. During the night Katie turned on the fans but they weren't providing any fresh air since they were blocked off and they didn't open the windows. I witnessed them rolling out of the cabin in the morning and both looked very ill. It turned out they spent about 9+ hours in the cabin with no ventilation. Very big lesson learned. We'll have to come up with a better plugging system but after that experience I don't think they'll ever forget to open her up again.

I once calculated the interior cubic feet in my cabin which is slightly bigger. It's around 135 cubic feet if I remember. Two adults can use up a lot of the oxygen overnight in that space. I and others on tnttt have cautioned folks many times to make sure they provide fresh air so matter how cold the night is.

I agree. I've done quite a bit of winter camping with my trailer. You need just as much air in the winter as you do in summer. Actually more if you want to avoid alot of frost/condensation on the inside.

Maybe something like using a lockout tag, so when the blocking is in place you have a blaze streamer on the controls for the fan, or something simple like that. You could make it more complicated with a warning light that came on when the blocking was in place, but then you would have to worry about the warning light not working.
