Thanks Mr L!

Bouncing around on a few tasks. Slapped together a tongue box that is short and wide to accomadate Andy's two bikes mounted on top. The box will store the solar panel suitcase I described a while back. There will be room for two sets of wheel chocks, a lug nut adapter and a still unsourced lug wrench. On the opposite side will be the inlets for 120v and 12v solar, a PWM charge controller, a Noco 5a charger and a terminal block to tie it all to the battery bank.

Still not sure if I'll glue the top down or screw it down. Might be handy to have it removable. The baggage doors will be diy. Going to research clasps before I make the doors.

Hottest day of the year so a good one for watching TBII and paint dry. Recruits are here busy getting done what we can while the sun shines. Target date for road worthiness of June 19 is looking better but still debatable. But no time for debate. Let's get painting.

Primer coat going on after finishing up PMF roof and vent scoop area.

85F yesterday. 49 today and it's dropped two degrees since starting this morning. Paint is drying VERY slowly. But still making some progress. The kids will be heading back to Milwaukee this afternoon. They are very excited about one more work session, maybe three days duration, and then hauling it home to MKE.

Latex paint can take weeks to dry(cure) hard depending on
the local heat and humidity. Its looking good!

Bumper work. Feeding wires and gluing. This went very well. Mostly held on with glue, but the lights will have machine bolts anchoring the whole thing to the 1/2" plywood behind it.

Fenders... ordered the wrong profile 13" fender which we used to locate cleats in the foam wall. The correct fenders were ordered after the walls were up and mostly finished and we found that the top anchor points had no cleat available. So the fix was to create a patch of 1/2" ply which was anchored to the cleat in the wall from inside and then carriage bolts were anchored to the top of that. That will provide a firm topside anchor. Bedding will hide that mistake but I'll always know it is there!

Hatch hanging time. Using a "living hinge" with 1/8" x 3/4" aluminum flat bar stock and 1 1/2" SS screws to tie it down. This went pretty smoothly considering it is the task that gives me the most anxiety. We anchored the top half of the hinge with the hatch in place. Then removed the hatch to clean up any squeeze out. Then a bead of caulk was added to the top edge of the hatch and it was slipped into place. Once installed we could open and remove any squeeze out between.

I like the simplicity of the living hinge. I've had one on my woodie teardrop for six years with no sign of deterioration.

Mattress goes in. Six inch memory foam. Took a ten minute power nap on it on a break in the action and it is very comfortable.

Testing nav lights. First time I've ever wired a third brake light. It flashes on the left turn signal as I didn't know it was supposed to have a converter. Andy was ready to head out on the teardrop's maiden voyage so it was good enough for him. No clearance lights yet. He is being picky about the look so has to find the right shape, size, LED, etc. Wires are run to the four corners and wrapped into loops to install when he finds what he wants.

Andy couldn't wait to hit the road. I told him he was taking me on its first trip around the block. Which he did, then off he goes...

There won't likely be much more in updates unless I get photos to share. Gonna miss the t'drop. :NC

Maybe I'll build another someday. Thanks for following...

Looks great! I'll bet your son is going to have a great time with it!

Too bad you are on the other side of the state from me, I know a way you could get your trailer building fix and I'd benefit from your experience! ;)

Thanks. Keep on keepin on...

Forgot to mention the four inch red stripe will go all the way around. Just started it with two coats by the door to make it a little easier for the artist, who didn't make the trip to finish.

Nice. Really nice.
Gotta say, that classic Benroy shape floats my boat.
Funny thing is, 18 months or so ago, I'd never heard of it.
