Clever pop up design. How do you lift and lock it in place?

It's lifted with a long ram hydraulic jack. Once lifted it's supported with 6 3x3 posts secured with hasps which also secure it when down.

Interesting design. Any links to the plans would be appreciated...unless of course this is a one-of design of your own :D

It is pretty much one off. It will never be commercially built, you have to know a few safety aspects when lowering and raising it. The post has 2 holes that gets raised and lowered with the jack. The travel on the jack is only 14" and the roof raises 21", the reason for the 2 holes. About halfway up and down I lock the post with a pin from traveling back down, also a good time to make sure nothing is getting destroyed. After it's raised I put the 6 posts up that are on hinges and lock them with the hasps. I tried to use a boat winch at first, it was disasterous I broke and bent everything on it. It's not that complicated of a design, I used mostly scrap wood and the jack which you can pick up almost anywhere. The whole design is too be able to pick up replacement pieces anywhere.

I have put 2,500 on the camper and I've had no issues. I have made the bunks bigger, added another solar panel for a total of 300 watts and changed the bed and cabinets for the last time. I'm hoping to get 2 more years of use before my family has really outgrown the 40 square feet.

I now have 5,000 miles on the camper. It has been demoted to the winter camper after the purchase of a Scamp. I officially weighed it, it's 1500 pounds unloaded. It weighs between 1700-1800 loaded. I installed a different tongue and another 100 amps of solar. I'm hoping to build a 5x8 benroy style next.
