Looks like it's going to work for the galley & hatch. There's a lot of force on those fasteners, probably more on these screws than on any other fastener in the build! You might need to bump up the quality of the fastener to a grade 8.8 or perhaps more.

I'm curious about the struts you found, which one was it to take the load from the hatch (the force for opening & closing)?

M&M's Droppie

The fasteners go through the walls, screws simply not strong enough. These are called locknut’s (roughly translated).

I will keep an eye on them since I do agree with you they are under a lot of constant stress.

The struts I found are 700N each. The excel said 600 but the hatch came out slightly overweight and they were very cheap although they are marine grade.

Suddenly things go fast, very fast.

Image
Headboard build and will be upholstered.

Image
Bike carrier fitted.

Image
Final coat of paint in the galley.

Image
All the wiring installed

Image
All the wiring tucked away

Image
Ventilation for the fridge.

Image

Image
Preparation for fitting the fridge. Water installed and doors fitted.

The 2do list is getting very short…. And only small tasks.

Galley is looking very good. Nice arrangement & location for the gear. I like the white look for keeping it simple & clean. Should be very easy to maintain & work in for cooking.

Hopefully, the fridge will get enough air-flow to not make too much heat in the small space under the counter. Is there a fan for the fridge, to help move the air over the cooling fins & create a "chimney" effect to get rid of the heat?

One problem I've seen is in a commercially built teardrop with air conditioning. The factory placed to small window-type unit between the galley & the cabin in a box with the heat magically moved to the outside. There wasn't sufficient air moving at the back end to make the cooling work well. The couple I met & spoke with said it didn't work very well in the Arizona summer heat. They didn't allow enough air movement to get proper cooling, even though the unit itself had plenty of capacity to do the small area of the cabin with ease.

M&M's Droppie

The fridge should have enough airflow. There is an extra outlet in the side that should create the chimney effect. If it turns out that’s not enough I can easily add a temperature controlled fan.
But the installation is compliant to the manufacturers recommendations so I expect it to be fine.

Ready! Only the fenders have to be bolted on once I have checked the tongue weight. Should be fine.

M&M's Droppie

Postby TallGuy7 » Tue Nov 01, 2022 4:00 pm

The final tasks finished…
Image
Wheel covers fitted

Image
Battery and gas tank secured

Image
Water tank secure

Image
Bikes fitted for correct tongue weight

Image
Perfect!

Then it was time for a test drive.

Image
Image

Very happy with the test drive.

At 90 km/h (speed limit with trailer) I still have a range of 350km. This is much more then I expected. At 130 km/h the range is 420km. To get the advertised range of 560km you have to drive 80 km/h.

We drove 170 km to show TD to my family and that was a big succes. We also encountered a rain storm and everything inside remained dry.
