Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hello all id like some help if anyone can offer it would be greatly appriciated. im going camping in a couple of weeks (not in a teardrop unfortenatly), and all i will really have to cook in/on is 2 surplus army ammo cans (http://www.therangerdigest.com/Tips%20Tricks/32%20ammo%20can%20bbq/32%20ammo%20can%20bbq.html) so i was wondering if anybody had any healthy recipies that i could cook on these. Im already going to be cooking burgers, fries, and coffee, so i was hoping for something a little more healthy.

Any type of foil pouch meal. Our favorite is packed this way:

Spray a generous sheet of heavy duty aluminum with olive oil. Lay down a slice of onion and cover with your choice of vegetables, the same amount you'd put on your plate. They can be fresh or frozen. Add a slice of tomato on top of the vegetables. Sprinkle a chicken breast with cajun spices and lay on top of vegetables, seal well. Place pouch over the coals and when it poofs (like jiffy pop popcorn), your meal is ready, cooked by the steam.

breakfast is your most important meal.

Here is a little ditty that works well ,butter the foil liner generously and press hashbrown potatoes into a "pie crust" . Dice red ,green,and yellow peppers mushrooms and add pre cooked sausage and onions. Cover with a beaten egg mixture and bake approx 30 - 45 minutes. When a fork is insurted and comes out clean the cassarole is thoroughly cooked. Peak at the crust if you can, it should be golden brown. Top with cheese and remove from heat and let rest 5 - 10 minutes to melt cheese topping. Then slice and enjoy. For those with a dutch oven move all the heat to the lid and you can brown the cheese topping in that same 5 - 10 minutes as seen in the pictures

Allow about 3 eggs per person. substitute what you wish it is great with ham , pepperoni , bacon, even those let over hamburgers from the night before just crumble them and throw them in.

Thanks i will defenatly try those. But i got a couple of questions though that ive always wondered about cooking in tinfoil pouches. Is it possible to prepare the ingredients and have it in the tinfoil overnight? or could it be prepared and put into a ziplock bag and then just put in the tinfoil before cooking? and if it could just be put into ziplock bags should i have the eggs and butter/olive oil in a seprete bag from the "dry" ingredients?

sorry i just havent cooked while camping before.

We've done both: packed the foil pouches and frozen them to take on camping trips (we're currently tenters). You just have to be careful not to let the pouches poke holes in each other; keeping the steam in is what makes them "pooch up".

Putting the ingredients in baggies works, too... and it gave the kids something do during the slow mid-afternoons.

I too will be going camping this weekend..not in the TD but alas...i still love camping. You would do good to get you a few pie irons! I havent actually taken my coleman gas stove in several trips since using these things. I make burgers, hot dogs, pizza, grilled cheese, pancakes, shrimp, sloppy joes,bacon....the list goes on and on. I got my double pie iron at dick's sporting goods but I think walmart sells them too although I think the ones at walmart are not cast iron. They are roughly $20 and GREAT jewels!
