Wonder why this did not sell. It looked pretty good in the pic. I did not think the price was to high.

At this time of year people tend to be looking for other ways to spend their money, although I think a nice trailer would look great under anyone's Christmas tree, but I may be in the minority.

Another thought is the trailer looks a bit too feminine. Not saying that's bad, just that it might turn some men away. Not trying to appear sexist, just offering an opinion as to why it may not have sold.

This trailer would be sold if I had a way to get to Riverside CA. Really a lot of Mid-Westerners looking right now....Just can't make the trip!

At first glance it does kind of look new and shiny.

As a buyer, the first thing that turned me off is the spelling.
I'm not perfect at it either, but for an ad, it should at least be close.
Spell check is free...
It implies that either the seller doesn't care, which implies they may not have cared when rebuilding the trailer, or it implies that the seller doesn't know any better, which makes one wonder how up to date their repair skills are?
(I don't personally care if someone can't spell, or read or write, but if you expect success using modern tools in the modern world (E bay) you need to embrace "modern" if only for your sale.)

One of the first things that grabs your attention is the red dinette.
If you like red, great, if not, it sure jumps out at you.
Sometimes "personalizing" a trailer can hurt sales, depending on how many like minded people are lining up for a chance to bid on what you are selling.

Looking closer, the dinette cushions and mattress appear to be made of bed sheet type material.
Thrifty, crafty, easy to do, and a great idea for your camper, when it is yours.
I wouldn't want bed sheet material for a dinette.

Personal taste comes into play again on the black and white floor tile pattern.
Some people from the 50's love it, mostly others don't.

The blue appliances against the red are an interesting combination...

I noted too, the different colored ceiling panel, that doesn't match the wall panels.

I'm not trying to pick the thing apart, or call it a bad deal, because I don't think it is.
But you asked...

If it can be had for the $2500 opening bid, and it was rebuilt by someone that is competent, and you like the colors, the combinations, and the odd exterior shape, then it is a pretty good deal.

I think that all of the above when matched to the potential buyers market, doesn't appeal to a very big slice of those looking, which may help explain why it didn't sell.

Something else of note: Scotsman trailers weren't known for their "over the top" building. It was intended to be an inexpensive trailer from the get go! Read (cheap). Kinda insulting/ offending since I'm a Scotsman...and I won't even get into any other possible trailer names that could be derived from other "frugal" type ethnic stereotypes. Doug

That model Scotsman are few and far between as far as i can tell. The Oh My post I made in this section was a listing for one of those in need of total rebuild condition. But it was for like only $300.00. I really like the profile and would have jumped on it in a hurry had it been in my area. As far as paying good money for a trailer that appears to be a quick fix and polish I would be very careful. One thing that really gets my attention is the use of a bare unfinished $10 sheet of common luan in place of or over top of the damaged panels. There is no telling what that is covering. $2500 is not an exorbitant amount to pay for a vintage trailer, but in the end if there is a lot of hidden damage it may not be much different than the $300 trailer.

I agree about the spelling and grammer in the ad. Also, there simply isn't enough information. I have more info and pics in an eBay ad for a $10 item. As for the rest of it, any camper purchase is going to be based on the buyer's preferences -- you'll either like it or you won't. I don't think the decor hurt it as much as the lacking advertisement and sales skills of the seller. You can't just throw a multi-$1K item on eBay and hope it sells. It's like putting a sign in the window and parking it at the end of your driveway but you're never home to show it.

For those of you that haven't seen it in person...well, you're missing out...he's got it loaded with great ideas and thousands of miles under it's remake! Doug

This trailer is located a mile from my office. I have seen it up close and personal.. trust ME.. it was a shoddy resto ! They had it in the driveway with a for sale sign on it and the price was $3500.. negotiable.

The chrome pieces over the windows were NOT for THIS trailer.. one window was "thrown" into the trailer and NO caulking applied.

I saw NO "craftsmanship" ANYWHERE in this trailer at all but rather, swhoddy workmanship and the repaint was atrocious !

Thy have a FEW trailers that they are sellin...MY advice is to steer CLEAR of these folks and THEIR trailers...been there, seen that !
