We sold the Catolac DeVille and taking an incremental step up. Not sure this thread gets a lot of traffic but will build some suspense for those not in my general wheel house.

The adventure begins we get a call from the seller after securing deposit and making KOA reservations in San Diego.

Hi Dave! I got bad news!! What Bad news we are ready to come down.



The trailer burned down..nothing left except the frame!!

WHAT!!

Couple of weeks of talking, planning...all up in SMOKE!!

What Happened!!??

Owner was testing the AC, and frig...went back to the house to get a few things...knock on door your trailer is on fire!!! Fire department had been called and was there hoses on!!

The trailer had been a complete rebuild to begin with hours and hours of work done by the owner and couple of his trade buddies.

WOW!!

We are blessed it did not catch fire in our possession and or with us in it!! Could you see this thing on fire in a KOA and then catching other trailers on fire!!!??

This spooked myself and my wife into going back to teardrops...well almost!!

We had just sold the Catolac DeVille and had no trailer!!??

We had to cancel our reservations and our vacations were already locked!! NOW WHAT???

Panic in Detroit!!

We has also bought accessories: lienens, bedding...odds and ends for a week long trip to SD!!

Talked to my teardrop builder about a new build or maybe selling us his woodie TD...then had him look at Vintage monster teardrop down south....that was a near complete rebuild as well!!

Almost moved on a 19 fter Aljo I think it was a 1955 with bath as well in Nevada High Desert. Thought about it and then backed off.

Vacation approaching..stay at home and have a stay vacation??

Or burn the internet looking for a trailer!!!???

Did we buy another trailer that burnt to the ground??

Fabric we found down in San Diego at UFO Upholstery.

Seat cushions:






The drapes:



The original seats long gone...but PO had HD foam precut for us.

Wings and decals are on order.

Will replace rusty screws with Stainless square heads.

Take pitted chrome off ofr a trip to the platters.

Maybe add a chrome strip.....not sure on painting the bottom half????

Will take pictures of the birch interior and countertops a but all good.

Fridge was a mess so going with Ice Box from VTS.

anybody have ideas about making it two tone??

Everyone seems to do turquoise or yellow.

Not sure on the factory colors:

Red,
Coral
Mist green or sea foam?
Yellow.
Green
Blue
baby blue
turquoise
white on white
white tan




or just leave it white???


Paint is in good shape just needs a good polish.

My thought would be to go with a color or colors (add a stripe?) that blend with the interior...maybe use the cushions' or appliance's color?
