Coleman Propane shortage?

You guys got a 1# Coleman bottle shortage in the US?
Lad at Snowy's Outdoors last week said they couldn't get them.
I've got a few stashed away but, if they don't eventually come back, I'll be re-designing the stove slide in the galley.

We heard that from a fellow at Dick's Sporting Goods (a chain), then promptly found a few at Lowes for a slightly high price, and bought one for our next trip, and then found a whole bunch at Walmart for a reasonable price, and bought a bunch more. So it doesn't seem to be a problem, but it may be.

A Winter mod to our trailer may be adding an 11 gallon tank with appropriate hoses and fitting to run either our Coleman stove or, better, a new Cook Partner stove if Santa is kind this Christmas. We may also investigate refrigerators, since ice and propane are our two major camping expenses (after campground fees).

I think there was a short run on them during COVID along with TP etc. I know I couldn’t buy a manufactured refillable 1# bottle back then. I haven’t looked recently though.

Still waiting on the email from Flame King for their refillable 1lb bottles. However my local wally world has 4 packs in stock. I REALLY want to avoid carrying 20lb tanks. Most of my appliances are lquid fueled. White gas / ethanol free unleaded gas... So I don't want to lug that bulk propane tank everywhere.

Don’t throw away your old empty #1 pound bottles. There’s a valve you can buy that allows one to refill them from a #20 pound bottle, which we do. You have to put your small bottles in the freezer first to get the most efficient refill. The valve is cheap, $30.

The flame king refillable 1lb bottles and fill kits are back in stock, with REI selling them for $10.00 per kit and $10.00 per bottle cheaper than pretty much everyone else...

Walmart and Home Depot both have the 2 pack bottles for $7.59, not sure about Lowes...

Grocery store prices on the bottles when you can find them seem to average about $6.00

Just grabbed a couple of 2 packs from a Walmart in Maine last week for $7.59 each, right after we went into a hardware store up the road (happened to be in Sabago) and the clerk said he couldn't keep them in stock. We bought a single in a Lowes in Endicott NY last month for about the price of the 2 packs in Walmart.

I refill them with a 20lb bottle. I also have the Flameking refillable 1lb bottles and they are easier to refill. Only drawback to refilling Coleman bottles is the Schrader valve. After activating them to fill, usually with a pair of 90 degrees needle nose pliers, they will sometimes leak afterwards.
