Loaderman, Pete 42

Out of town for a few days. We have the hull assembled out of luan ply. When I return will be adding 1 1/2 inch of foam to the interior, tape the exterior edges and then wrap the exterior with canvas. Using titebond III as the adhesive to bond canvas to ply. Will post pics. I think the boat will go great with the teardrop trailer.

By the way, this has been a very easy build so far. The teardrop cubby had been a lot more challenging .

Have Included several pics of the build. Have the hull assembled, fiberglassed taped and tite bonded the chines and have installed 1.5 inches of foam.

Need to order my canvas and glue it on. Will also start on the mast and boom and order sail material. Since we really do not know how to sail , my daughter and I are going to enroll in a sail and safety class in Sept.

Included several more pics of the boat and one pic of our Cubby Teardrop Camper. Should have the Puddle Duck ready for final paint by week end. Located in my photo gallery.

Louella:

On the chines(edges between sides and bottom) we used drywall fiberglass tape and TB III. The foam is glued to luan with PL foam glue. We have two layers of foam glued to itself on the inside. The outside is completely wrapped with canvas and glued with TBIII, then applied diluted TBIII to really adhere the canvas to the hull.

Are you following plans of any kind??

droid_ca,

I did follow free plans that are posted on www.pdracer.com. The site has all the info. you would need to build the sailboat. Should have everything complete by tomorrow.

Thanks for posting. Read the article after my build was complete. Update, have sailed my foamy hybrid
For almost a year. The painted canvas over foam has worked great. Will be building a kayak version out of foam in the near future. the design will be based on the Flats Rat boat design.
