paint and cloth?

Can I use oil based paint with bed sheets or must it be glue, latex, etc?
Can I rough up oil based paint surface and apply "patches" of paint and coth over existing surface?
Anyone try elastomeric roof coating (snow roof?).

Rob, the traditional way of covering boat cabin roofs was oil-based paint over heavy canvas. And I think the initial coats of paint were a mix of whatever was lying around in the bottom of unfinished tins under the workshop bench (none of that flammable stores stuff back then....).

That should work huh ??? The recommended procedure around here is to try it on a piece of scrap first ...
