It's a good basis for comparison between different woods ...relative strengths and weights .... There's a LOT to it... :frightened:

Useful tool for the "technically" minded ! A bit daunting for the rest of us ...

Nice find. There is a wealth of information there for many, enough to be dangerous for some, and for the rest, just information overload. Very cool.

and I have worked with wood for many years and............ you had to put this on for discussion, after I have had just one too many :wine: I am not sure I would understand it any more after I read it, I am from the old school that wood has a special feel and you can see the texture I was taught to have an intimate woodworkers relationship of touching , and feeling the grain and texture. I thought my mentor was crazy when I heard him talking like that, but once I had made a few pieces of wood work I began to see for my self what he was trying to teach me. oh why do I sound so .....so ....... I am going to have another :wine: and think about this.........

Here is some more info on wood

Wood

A bit over a week ago I found a good place to get hard woods in Boise. Only 180 miles away. I picked up some Honduras mahogany and a bit of zebra wood. $200 and I could carry it all at once.

And the hinges for a project I am thinking about set me back $75 and I will probably need more mahogany.

oh well
