FRP and Vinyl

Postby Dirke » Tue Mar 05, 2013 8:34 am

I have a question. I am still toying with different ideas and was wondering if anyone has used FRP as an outer skin. Would you make a sandwich style wall out of it with perhaps luan or paneling on the inside? Would you have to skin it with canvas first? What would you glue it with? I would imagine Gorilla Glue but I know Hard as Nails makes an FRP glue.

Another question, I have some billboard vinyl and wondered about skinning it with that. Same questions...

I used FRP and finished in 2007. I found at a salvage yard rolls 6'10" wide. I ended up putting it on the exterior walls, roof, interior walls, and floor.
I bought all of this for 108.00. It was a real deal. I got FRP mastic from Lowe's.
I used Krylon fusion paint for the first coat and then a good exterior latex for the final coat.
I have 3/4 inch ply walls with 3/4 in foam board insulation.
I left the interior walls white.
No problems so far.
It was a very inexpensive alternative for me.
