All that storage will be Nice eh !!!

It will be vented. The general idea is to have it open air in use, but protected while in transit. I'm still thinking the final method through.

Glenn, now you have me thinking. How would you cover it for travel? I am giving serious thought to having the tongue box just to cover the AC.

Maybe make the box with a top part that can be unlatched and removed for AC use ... Sorta like a portable sewing machine cover ... and remember the AC will be constantly dripping moisture , may need a tube to drain that away ...

Update. Before the heat got to me, I was painting the frame. Not much left, but I'll have to wait until this evening.

Nookery Updates -- New frame and floor June 2016

Postby bonnie » Mon Jul 18, 2016 1:18 pm

There's a lot more nooks and crannies than you would think. Just part of the back, the tongue and the bottom left. Whew!

Have no idea what to look for. There's no cracks or gaps though. The added part is bolted on.

My good friend ( car mechanic) and I personally assembled the Trailer in my Studio , so I’m sure it was correctly assembled ... But we “assumed” :o the welding was done right .... :NC If you know a good welder , it may be worth it for him ( or her) to just have a look at it to see if the welds are sufficient ( inspection) ... It appears Mike’s trailer might have gotten one of those Friday afternoon , I’m getting off work in ten minutes , welding jobs ( quickee) ... :frightened:

You my not know , Chinese factories impose strict production quotas on their workers , and if they don’t fulfill those quotas, they have to stay after work and finish on their own time ... ( unpaid) .. This may lead to less than perfect work being done in a hurry ...

I will look into it, but the trailer is bolted and welded everywhere it might break. I'll be taking time to inspect it, but I'm confident it will hold together.

Yes , please do have a look .... we KNOW the bolts were done right ... the welds , we dunno'... :NC

The FoamStream trailer was made by the guy in my Band who lives right down the street ... He and his son are both very experienced welders .. so I know that’s done right ... 8) It’s ALL welded ...

With this being a brand new trailer, I have every expectation the welds and bolts will hold up. The young man who welded the additions, new cross pieces, and all the tongue joins and such is very experienced. Now that it's painted and ready for the floor. I'm pretty stoked. I will watch the frame for failures, but I think I'm set.

So, I now have a question for all of you. While it is traditional to attach the floor to the frame prior mounting the cab, I am considering rolling the cabin onto it's top and glueing the floor on that way. I have lots of 7# pavers I could place around the perimeter to weight it down. It also will give me a way to use bamboo skewers to anchor things.

Your comments and suggestions, please.

Sounds good to me, just make sure to police the area for any bumps, sticks, rocks, unevenness, etc. that might end up damaging the "good" side of things.

When I did my hatch (before putting the FG skin on) I had it laying foam side down on a couple of doubled up bed sheets. Even the wrinkles in the bed sheets were enough to dent the foam. I realize that yours is already covered, but the same concern still applies; you don't want any pokey stuff damaging your outside finish/canvas. With a heavy load of blocks the effect would be multiplied.

Another thing, be careful how you support it and how many pavers you stack on there. (I'm assuming you would lay it with the largest part of the roof flat so maybe the floor wouldn't be level during gluing.) Before you know it you could add quite a bit of weight and it could buckle like a house of cards. Okay, not likely given how strong these things get, but with an unsupported edge like that (at least until it gets glued up) it won't be as stable. Whatever you support it with might kick out, etc. Just saying, don't stack a pallet full of blocks on it!

Just saying, plan for it, be careful, and you should be okay. Do it!
