Permanent windows is OK with me ... as long as they open and close  8) More permanent , the Better eh !!!

Hindsight , always 100% accurate , and always a bit too late ... :R Good thing it was Foam or it could have been real problems ... this is still laughable ... but embarrassing none the less ...

Got the reinforcing strip attached on one side ... then decided it was just too darn Hot to be working out there... And I’m not supposed to be out in the Sun anyway ( BP meds)... :frightened:

Note: I was going to cut/bevel those ends of the cross members , but decided that would be a good place to screw on a final trim strip to “finish off” the bottom ...

Ps. I did run a chalk line first for the reinforcing strip and one for the the 56” (actual 60” X 10.5’ ) large canvas piece that extends well up into the curve of the roof :o ... the other 4 “ will overlap the reinforcing strip under the floor ... That’s just Gotta’ be STRONG !!!

Got a cheap roller pan to use for the T2 ... will have to roll it on ... too large for brushing ... ;)

Glug, glug, glug. Even using only 1/4 inch nap rollers, they do seem to suck up a lot of TB. Glug, glug (the sound of pouring glue into the roller tray).

Picked up 2 more gallons myself just the other day (would have been 3 except all they had was 2). Tally is now 4 (2 down and working on the next 2). We'll see how far these next 2 get.

Geep, have you noticed the heavy canvas taking more glue to apply, or does it seem to be about the same? Kind of wondering if it is truly necessary to fully saturate the canvas, or just contact adhesion like you seem to be doing. Any reason not to back roll the underside of the canvas?

KC , it doesn’t seem to take any more glue , just sticking it down as we’ve done ... Not really necessary to saturate the canvas ...besides if we did , that would only take More glue ..this Thick stuff ... seems fine just stuck down , dry on the outside ...
Yes, I’m wary of how much those rollers suck up :o ... really no choice on these large areas ... good thing the T2 is Inexpensive ...
We found also rolling the back of the canvas is just too much glue ... takes much longer to set up, grab, dry ... Just the one application works fine and grabs quick enough to allow smoothing without lifting ..

I appreciate the reply.

Would you say you are putting the glue down relatively dry, medium coat, or on the wet side?

KC, when we did the big panel ,we put down as much glue as we could (wet) and the beadboard sucked it right up ... :o had to add a little more in certain places ... but we got the one panel done ... by the hardest ... a Monumental job for one person ... :o I must have spent the next hour after that just smoothing ...

That roller did waste a lot of glue .... besides the stuff I spilled on the ground ...

Question about the reinforcing strips.

Are they just overlapping joints/corners, or did you add strips around the body,( like hoops on a barrel), to add rigidity?

Warren , just joints and corners ... If 3.5” of foam covered with a super Heavy canvas over a plywood rib frame isn’t rigid enough , then I give up ... This things like a Tank ... just no gun ... as yet ... :R

 Ned , Thanks ... I hope so too !!! ;)

I’m getting too old for this ... Next time , I’m going to get a Helper ...

Curious , asfter the canvas was applied it appeared to be blotchy :frightened: ... now dried better everything looks flat and uniform .... Obviously a non uniform application of glue ... have to work on that ...

I am using a small roller and putting it (after use ) in a freezer bag so I can use it again the next day. I will be gluing a lot in the next 4 or 5 days. Kc, I didn't realize you were ready to glue , and GPW how are you storing your roller between glue ups? Your work is great you are doing so good!!!

Not quite there, Mary, but planning ahead. I tried to rinse my rollers out with the hose at first with poor results (stiff and spotty after drying), then just used a new roller each time, but have switched to the short 1/4 inch nap and have tried rinsing really thoroughly again. So far I have just been laminating ply to foam, but soon, soon it will be canvas.

GPW, you are doing a great job applying your canvas. Anyone would be proud to do so well.

Don't overdo it exertion or exposure-wise. It is just not worth it! Stay healthy and exercise, but don't over do it.

Been trying to solve that puzzle. I want awning windows that open to near 90 degrees so I can use my TTT as a portable blind for photography.

Trim I found:

Windows look great GPW!

Another two good sealants are 3M 4200 - you'll have to get that at a boatyard or order online - and OSI gutter sealant - available at most home centers.

Well, it’s a new day ... a gift !!! :D

Being Hot here I got real silly cleaning my roller and just played the hose on the roller and let it spin wildly till it was clean .... Of course it threw water Everywhere , and we got soaked , but it was nice and cooling so I didn’t mind ... 8) Cleaning painting implements has been a good part of my life ... cleaning everything at the end of the day ...just habit ...

Covering ... outside , between rain storms ... very tricky !!! Especially for just one person .... The little Foamie was so much easier ...smaller , lighter canvas ... Wish I could say this was coming along as we like , but I’ve had to make some compromises ... so the covering job won’t be perfect ... and we will have to use some tricks to cover/disguise the somewhat sloppy fits ... But I told the wife and she said that’s OK , and pronounced the trailer much better than any of the previous alternatives ... so it’s all Good !!! ...
Going across the river (to the Eastern half of the United States) today to pick up the chipboard for the interior ... It’s supposed to rain ... again ... so we’ll do what we can ...

A79, thanks for the sealant tip ...

Bogo .. " I want awning windows that open to near 90 degrees so I can use my TTT as a portable blind for photography. “ That sounds like Fun ... :D

Pulled the tarp back ... the big panel survived the dampness of the night , still stuck fast , but a bit damp as yet, but then Everything’s damp here ... Surprisingly the somewhat slack window and AC cutouts were now tight as a drum ...so there was some shrinkage although not evident on any of the edges ... Made the slices for the openings , not glued yet... so here’s how it sits now ... awaiting a bit of the drying Sun... :rainy:

Errrrr, anybody notice that I got the window opening a bit crooked (although I measured twice , obviously wrong ) ... Have to “work” on that ...
