The problem I had with the doors was the canvas has a "sizing" to it that will naturally repel moisture. when they make
canvas or other natural materials they put a chemical (unknown) which makes the infinitely small fibers to lay down similar to
Downey. the chemical repels water to a degree. to see if your material has this drop a drop of water onto the dry canvas if it
rolls even a little then the material has sizing. because of the nature of canvas(cotton fibers ) they use sizing period. I will
spray down the canvas with water 10 minutes before applying it over the glue.

Mary, we’ve always understood sizing to be just a highly thined glue .. which can be most anything , skim milk , Jello , animal hides , chemicals ... But I think you’re right ... the sizing is keeping the glue Out of the fabric to a degree... My canvas is waaay too smooth not to be sized...

Honestly , I Chickened out and just used more Gripper on the nose ( ) , but this time completely wetting Both sides before application ... I think that will work ... Schmaybe' ??? The gripper is drying now , and we started adding the balloon gores ...

Finished the balloon gores , now just the keystone cover, and glue the front under the floor ... Getting close ... and it looks like rain ... :frightened:

I swear , if the Gripper sticks on the trailer as good as it sticks on my hands , everything will be OK ...

That's looking very good, GPW! How did you determine size/shape of gores? Any scientific, mathematical method or just guesstimate?

KC, Thanks !!!

K’, The gores were determined by laying one up and seeing where the line fell out , once we had the one line , we flipped it over for the other side too ... BTW, that inverted gore in the front .... another “design element" ...   Just the way things fell out  ... I do have a million little threads to clip before we prime it ... small scissors and patience...
This is how much canvas we have left over from 30 yards .... Not enough to do a painting on ... This trailer really was a Canvas HOG ... :o The two rolls on the left , just enough for the keystone cover... just barely made it ...

... and luckily, the Gripper seems to be holding this time ... it appears wetting both surfaces with the gripper is the way to go ... no bubbles either ... ;)

W2, turns out I was just using it wrong ... I assumed  from the video , it was just a one coat deal ... but it wasn’t !!! Kinda’ a PIA to have to coat both surfaces , but that’s what it took ... ;)

I did get out the tiny scissors and trimmed all the little sticky out’y threads on the gores... not so bad... cutting the canvas on the bias produced much fraying ... the straight cuts didn’t ... as much ... Too HOT to continue .... going to let it bake in the sun a while ... while I take my Nap and dream of Trailers ... :D

Here I was , on a deserted island with the Swedish bikini team and one little foamie’ trailer , and 500lb. of Beer  ... Oops !!! just a Dream ...
Back from my Nap ... Feeling much better now, a little time in the AC ...
Checked the trailer , everything looks very dry now , no bubbles , no separations ... and best of all No rain .... yet ... Hope we get time to prime the nose and put the keystone cover on .. still a bit HOT out yet ... have to wait a little while ...but not too long ...

Another test .... we’ll see how fresh Gripper does in the rain ... :frightened: Came out of nowhere and here I am with a 12’ Aluminum roller extension in my hand  ... Pouring rain like Crazy!!! :rainy: You can actually see the foam dust washing out to sea, or just further down the driveway ... :o

And as quick as it came up , it stopped ... leaving everything soaked ... the fresh gripper didn’t do too bad ... what’s left of it ..

Baby’s baptism of water ... Good thing it’s foam ... :o

And yes we found a couple small leaks ... you guessed it ... the keystone ... The only uncovered part on the cabin ... :R

It goes without saying that you will need to make doubly sure that that canvas is dry, dry, dry before you coat it with primer and/or top coat!

Maybe even run out there now before it dries and lay on a coat of mildly bleached water; help keep it from molding in your humid climate (good idea, bad idea????? please discuss).

Drat, damn "pour" luck.

Still looks great!

Ps. have the fan blowing in it again ... FWIW :NC

If you don't expect overnight rain, maybe better to leave it uncovered overnight, dry more?
