I don't think these shortened-dark days are good for double shifting!

Forty-three miles SE. Other side of the Salmon. Maybe a day and a half drive to Poet. We've had a lot of snow in the high country this month so I don't think I'd attempt the magruder road right now, at least not past the Magruder Ranger station. But gawd! This country is beautiful right now with the aspen and cottonwoods all glowing.

You know , that’s the wonderful thing about having a tiny trailer .... You don’t have to make the Journey all at once... camp/rest along the way ... Never tired , always ready to take in the Beautiful sights of the American landscape .... and other “roadside attractions” .. 8)

Maybe when you make it we can meet up with our foamies and camp together.

My wife wants me to plan a trip to New York in our foamie next year and hit the sites along the way. Not sure if we can make it next year, but maybe the year after that.

There is a lot to do in NY, and not just in NYC.

Reference my vacation report on the Mid Hudson Valley

Our trip will likely be toward the end of August, and if there is any way to pull it off, I would like to sneak into Walk The Winds 2014 on the way to Poet Creek.

When we get closer to the trip I will put out the word on details. I would love to connect with anyone from this board if at all practical. Our biggest issue is the travel time vs. time off that we have, so I want to maximize our time in the corridor.

Maybe a few hearty souls would want to make the passage with us? I know Wolffarmer mentioned he'd like to do the Magruder someday.

What'ya say? Make the Magruder Road Passage (Elk City to Darby) a regular event following Walk The Winds? (Just spit balling.)

Yeah, Idaho. It's a trib of Bargamin Creek along the Magruder Corridor. If you're not familar with Bargamin, look at an Idaho map that shows the Salmon River. About halfway in it's journey accross the state the river changes direction from NW to SW forming an inverted V. Bargamin feeds into the river right at that point coming in from the north. An old game warden claims that semi-fresh Sheepeater moccasin tracks can still found in the drainage from time to time. Wild and lonely –rough country.

My gut feeling is the folks that live in Elk City (and maybe Darby on the east side of the corridor) are going to see a migration of strange little tear-shaped trailers moving through their 'hoods over the next few years. A cult like occurrence. Curious looking travelers with a far-off focus on their faces. Polite people but different. "You ain't from around here, is ya?" All headed to the proverbial, but previously obscure Poet Creek Campground a long ways from nowhere. A place perhaps never seen by a Dodge diesel pulling a 32 foot generator-equipped Jayco.

Interesting. In the current survey maps they show Poet running in to Bargamin south of the road, whereas my recollection from '76-'77 was that it ran in north of the road.

I wonder if the creek bed has changed that much since then; entirely possible with annual runoff and 36 yrs of erosion.

Hmm. The most recent pic's that I have seen (previously linked) seem to show it closer to the way that I remember.

Exciting.

I have been meaning to do the Magruder for some time now. Could be a good event.
