On the inside , the plan is to just finish with the tie-in strips , then paint it ... But I was thinking of a shelf up front , just a place to put stuff ... Thinking foam skinned with Luan on the top... same type center brace??? Room for igloo and Bear rug ...

i really think you should add that shelf! i am so thankful we have that bunkbed in ours. it no longer is a bed but a shelf, a well needed shelf. also if needed it still could be used as a bed only if the granddaughter goes camping though.

OK, a shelf it will be , but I have to buy/find some more foam first .. Used all the donated stuff ...
BTW, The extra glue has bumped the price of the TD up significantly , to almost 100USD... :o

Here's the hinge support glued in now (Very Strong ) .... now will cover over all that with more reinforcing strips as marked on the side in pencil ... Image

some of those other threads and posts are getting too technical for me. i love the kiss build of this foam/glue/canvas. nothing technical there.

love your door frame. i have a wierd thought going thru my head about a back door for my second build. i was thinking about a door made like a hatch in the back, not on the side. still thinking, but i think that would be pretty cool.

oh and it must have been something i ate last night, but i had 3 seperate nightmares! one about snakes, one about mountains, and one about zombies.

under my work yesterday i found 2 of the most ugliest toads. i suppose that is where i got the snake nightmare from. snakes eat toads. but i don't know about the mountains and zombies.

Oh No, do we need to start thinking how to make the foamies "zombie proof" now too? as if bear proof isnt' enough

Eagle, even though I've been in the other threads too, the simplicity of the basic foamy is what draws me here too. I've never done any type of wood working, and all teh metal work I've done has been under my jeep or trailer, so never anythign for site, and has never been pretty LOL

exactly, it was a simple build, easy build, low cost build. something just about anyone could do.

all the talk about strength and tree limbs etc. well i might get a headache if a tree limb fell on my tent. i think i could stand on top of mine, but would that be necessary? i don't plan on standing on it, well unless a zombie attacks, i might have to then.

these are just my thoughts however: i do not need to hit it with a hammer to see how well it holds up, i don't plan to use it as such. i don't have to know if i can stand on it, i don't plan on doing that. but what i do want to know is will it be waterproof? will it be light enough that i can tow it? will it be strong enough to handle driving down the road? those are the tests that i want proven, and since i have proven it in my first foamie then i am happy, so much so i am working on the bigger one.

but i do enjoy reading all these other posts, some good info is out there and so many other ideas of how to do things. but i plan to still keep it simple, my brain just can't wrap around the technical stuff.

have we hit the 100 pages yet?

Or Toad proof (is there such a thing as a pretty Toad ? ) ... :o Yes , too technical , and coming from some folks who doubt our materials and methods ... although it's already proven to work ... I expected that ... there's always the few non-believers trying to ruin our Fun with theoretical conclusions based on speculation and non similar comparisons...

True, the Foamie may not survive a tree falling on it , or a Bear ... or being struck by a meteorite, but nothing else would either ... What's the point ?
True , you should not tow your Foamie over 100 Mph , or in winds exceeding Hurricane strength... especially on high bridges... nor should you be camping in high winds ...in Anything ... :o
Dream analysis : Snakes , we know what Freud would say ... Mountains ... you're dreaming of Travel. Zombies ... must have been the cupcakes before bedtime ... :R

A back door seems like a good idea , more access.. I thought about that too, but on mine (tiny) it didn't seem needed ... Just trying to KISS!!

Today is the Door build ... Probably the most complicated part of the build , for me anyway ... I'll take some pics as things go together ...

i've got bad weather here today. rain, and rain. so i can't even do the measuring stuff. so i might (perish the thought) have to clean the house?

wished i knew how to do those sketches with cad, would love to play with some inside design ideas.

there was a guy on tv a long time ago, that used to say "if you can't build out build up.

and in my case i can't do much "out building" but i have room for upwards building. so my mind has been going all over the place.

Eagle , did you try printing out some of that basic pattern to draw/design on ... You don't need CAD , just a Pencil , and eraser... Drawing is just practice ... you don't have to be Picasso to design a trailer ... Rainy day fun !!! Wish it would rain here, we're still in a drought , and with ALL that water, the Miss. River just a block away ...

Design your own , print out some copies , use a pencil to draw with ... you guys remember pencils eh ? Those skinny yellow things with no keyboard...

well that wouldn't work for me. i would have to know measurements and i don't.

p.s i don't have a printer so can't print.

i might just go play some mindless games.

Make more cupcakes !!! :D

If you want to try drawing , you don't need to know measurements , you just need a ruler ... I like to make drawings where 1" represents one foot ... so if you want to draw a sheet of plywood , it's just a box 4" X 8" ... Jar tops, frisbees , coins , are all good for drawing curves, or a school kids compass ... The goods thing about pencil drawings , is that Eraser... if you don't like it ... Rub rub , Gone !!!
I love to make drawings to help visualize how things go together ... as you might have guessed by now ... if you can draw it , you can build it ... well most of the time anyway, M.C. Escher excluded ...

And more coming!!! We are just holding it here in Memphis temporarily while they figure out which flood gates to open down there. My daughter lives in Mid-town and tells me you will have a 6" safety margin when the river crests in the Crescent City.

8) Just wanted to get something on the 100th page of this topic!!

Dad, we have our fingers crossed ... hope the "Corps" did their job (right this time ) the spillways are open and the river stopped rising ... and now predictions are much better for less water in the whole system ... Sad so many folks got flooded already ... :( Last trip to the levee, the water's over the batture and moving FAST !!! :worship:
