I'm thinking about the bed platform now...

Typically I do this in wood... but since we are building a foamie, what do you think the material should be?

Very COOL and Foamie" oriented .... maybe a few vertical wood 2x2's in the corners and middle to provide extra support ... glued to the foam , nothing else ... increases the compression strength , case you decide to jump up and down on it ...

Beauty job !!! It's going to be so LIGHT !!! :D

Do the patched places end up "stronger" than what they were with these materials?

I think they do (end up stronger). That gorilla glue is some pretty tuff stuff!

Mike , what about some hollow door cores for the bed support...or maybe just more foam with a thin ply skin on both sides ? Don't need much as it's already supported in the center with your cross framing ....

just thinking here, but remember a post a while back about using pvc's?
would a frame made out of that work? just trying to think of something that might be relatively cheap and lightweight.

i don't know about giving suggestions since like i have said many times, i never built anytihng. so this was just something to throw out there.

I think you guys (and gals) will be tickled when you see how I am going to add additional support to the bed structure. You'll laugh again when you see how I plan on supporting the galley.

And between this weekend (a short one) and next weekend (a long one) I hope to mount the walls, and start putting foam on the roof. I hope to get the first 48" on the front and the first 48" on the back.

Keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck.

Mike...

P.S. Of course I'll take pictures for you. Check back often these next two weekends!

Newbie chiming in - This is looking great and it has me thinking of going hybrid I like the look of a bead board interior but the foam outer skin would definitely save weight on my 6x12 standie. loving the bed frame too.
I looked at the site hotwirefoamfactory and you could use foamcoat to seal and get storage under the bed. I'm just at the point of flooring later today so I'll be watching anxiously.

Today I don't know what is more frustrating... foam, paint, or canvas....

I skinned the inside of one wall, and I was not very happy... give me a little while, I'll post some pics...
