You deserve a day off. A little R&R is sometimes needed. You have done an incredible amount of work in recent weeks.

That chipboard is a really interesting approach. In the pics it has almost a woodgrain look. Is that just a trick of the camera & digitalization?

If you think about it ... chipboard is made of wood (as well as most paper) ... so it looks like wood :o ... much easier to waterproof than thin plywood , mucho’ cheaper ,lighter ... sticks just fine to the foam , strong , easy to paint ... would be easy to glue anything else to it .... fabric, maps , the funny pages, pictures of coleman lanterns (?)

I know I said we were going to paint the inside a very light purple .... But (here it comes  ) .... Today , took all my many half-cans of paint lying around and poured them all into the empty Gripper five bucket ... producing a very Nice pale grayish greenish color ... very restful looking ... made about 3 gallons ... Looks like we’ve found the Thrifty Alternative to buying more paint ... Checked with the Domina’ and she liked it too ... 8) :D Thrifty is as Thrifty does ...

Hmmm... was sort of rejecting the idea for me because just a tooth or claw out of place with the dogs & they'd shred the top layer of a panel. But when I add the idea of covering it with fabric it then sounds like a much sturdier item. You may be on to something. Was planning on using the thin plywood underlayment as paneling up to about 4' with fabric covering the upper walls & ceiling. Am not sure I have enough sheets to cover the entire inside. Not sure if chipboard plus purchased fabric would end up cheaper than plywood. Have to run some calculations to determine ultimate thriftiness factor. It would spare me from learning to use the vacuum bag method.

Can't wait to see your ultimate thrifty color.

The chipboard I used was $1.50 a sheet , the two ply was about twice as much The really thick stuff (0.120”) is around 7 bucks a sheet (32” X 40”) ... any fabric that would be glued it would most certainly be bought off the remnant rack at the fabric store or acquired in a thrifty manner , searching what we already have first ... being a parsimonious fellow and all ...

SS does that to you ... I have enough left over at the end of the month for a tin of fish for the Cat ... :duh:

Just thought of a good job for the wife ... painting the insides of the lightening holes .... PIA for me ... bet she won’t even do that ... whining , “ it’s too Hot “ ... Maybe if I stuck the AC in for that ... but then the paint wouldn’t dry as well ... :duh:

The beige is a good color. The pink is a little too manly for my taste.   :D

Doesn't look like Jeanie's bottle, though. :NC :NC :NC :NC

Pink , what Pink ??? :o Oh, OK, that’s the reflected light from outside making the white Gripper look Pink .... You had me scared for a moment ... :frightened:

It’s hard enough to bear with the PINK HF frame on the little camo one and the wife calling it G.I. Jane ...

Jeannie’s bottle got canned over Thrifty ... happens ... especially when I asked the wife to chip in ...

Paint should dry faster. A/C dehumidifies the air.

Intense Heat Warning issued for today .. from 11:00 AM -7:00 PM ... Suggesting people stay indoors between these times. Looks like an early morning to work again ...then a long afternoon nap ... Fine by me ! :goodnight:
Thinking the poor little AC will look like Niagara Falls outside trying to get rid or our Humidity ... :o Poured like Crazy yesterday afternoon ... Lightning hit so close , knocked down a big tree next door, and the tree fell across their power line ... popped the GFI on my computer supply ... :frightened: Later on , checked the inside of the trailer thoroughly and there were No leaks , nothing ... Figuring if it went through that with no water entry , we’re good to go ... :D

So , everybody’s down with the Thrifty paint color ??? Not too dark is it ?? Dark colors tend to make rooms look smaller .. I actually would prefer the very light purple ... but that would add another 50 bucks to the trailer total ... Thrifty is a strong motivation

Caulking some little seams this morning ... just makes a better paint job ...

Thanks Ned !! I was actually doing what they said to do to dispose of old paint cans... empty them into a larger container and let the old cans dry out , then toss them in the trash ... Figuring I could always find a use for extra paint ...like painting my shed ... finally .. Was pleasantly surprised at the nice restful color it all made ... figured what the heck .. save a few Coins (they do add up surprisingly fast ) and paint the inside with it ... And in the primary situation , restful in a time of Panic would be appreciated...
sort of a woodsy color , just like at home ...

Got a lot of caulking done before we ran out ( 2 tubes) .. really helps the “look” .. Back to the store ... I don’t know why I took pictures of caulking .... everybody knows what that looks like ...

We also were considering spraying and texturing the finish on the inside like drywall , but that too fell to Thrifty once we brushed on the paint , which came out fine .... the chipboard does take paint well .. guess since it’s wood , it should ...

When I was a kid, I had a bedroom where the drywall joints were covered with wood slats. The walls of the foam stream remind me of that even the color looks like that old bedroom! Homey looking. :)

Hey Geep,

I don't understand how you could be thinking about, or even considering, a day off. Some of us out here are on vacation and waiting for your next move with baited (and I mean REALLY baited) breath!

Ned, drywall covered with wood slats ... that’s very interesting  8) This color is starting to remind me of being in the Navy (gray -ish) To be authentic , just needs about 200 coats of paint over it ...

Mike , I still have those rims and tires for you ... :frightened: For which I must reply .. “ I don't understand how you could be thinking about, or even considering “ those Junk tires... :R

Even an Old Fool needs a day off ... I’m just worn thin from all this work :sweaty: ...supposedly retired... Yeah right !!!
