I like the way you got so much color variation into the snow painting. Up here in the winter things are pretty drab and when it snows it dulls everything down until the sun comes out and "blings" everything out.

Good job.

Taking a couple days off to rest ... and can’t do anything till the chipboard gets here ... whenever? Still no notice that they’ve shipped , or even got it yet ...

Waiting for our Bass player (the Lawyer) to get back from vacation , so we can get the “paperwork” in order to present to the State Police and DMV... Technicalities about a “homemade “ trailer frame ... Seems they either want completely homemade or “store bought” and nothing in between ... which is naturally where I find myself in the middle ...again !

Had a real “gullywasher” go through last night :frightened: ... When it gets light I’ll do an inspection for any water that may (likely not) have gotten inside .... So far so good , but I keep checking anyway ...

KC , color and a brush(hair on a stick) are my only tools to give the “impression” of snow ... I’ve studied /learned to “see" color in the bleakest of scenarios... It’s just “prettier" than black ,white and gray ... ;) Having provided a modest living for the past 43 years , we’ve found pretty paintings sell better than dull ones ... hence the “exaggeration” .. :D Not often we get a chance to paint a snow scene... Had to make the best of it , and paint Quick ... Beautiful how the snow reflects the sky colors ... :D

have you thought of registering the trailer in Maine, then transfering it to LA? ME is quick and painless, most states will waive the inspections and fees for a transfer that you have to deal with for a new creation. There is a thread on here somewhere about how to do it and how easy it is.
as a mainer my self, I found the process for my tear to be super simple, pay the fee for the plate/registration for two years and done. :) transfering to MA (where I still say I'm only visiting) was simple.
Plenty of trailers registered in ME that never saw that state, especially eighteen wheelers.

Row, that’s an interesting idea .... I don’t really think there will be a problem , if the proper “paperwork” is provided ... Bureaucrats (Wiki: • an administrator concerned with procedural correctness at the expense of people's needs.) seem only to respond positively to that , so we’ll try that first ...

The trailer was made by a retired welder and his son , he’s in the band too , which is how I got the trailer for FREE  ... It appears to be made of some old trailer parts and some new.. Now around here if you re-use a junk trailer in any way , it must have a "salvage title” , which we don’t ... (another fee the state can collect  ) ... just another hoop to jump through ... Last time I got a trailer stamp , they didn’t even look at the trailer , just the paperwork ... Could have been an Elephant in the parking lot ... :o

Ta-da! Just finished the whole FS thread. That puppy is a beauty.

My one big question didn't get answered. How much for a set of hole-less ribs IF he even still thinks he would be doing them for others? But then of course I don't think they would need to be as deep (3" right?) as yours so it would probably end up meaning different program parameters and another set-up charge. Without the holes and patience with the skill and sabre saws one might could do a job that could be hidden behind some kinda covering.

If I were going the FS route, which is a strong possibility, the only things I would do differently (after reading about your toils and troubles) is to spend the extra money for the pink sheets, maybe do an inch and a half thick in two layers to facilitate bending and . . . (drum roll) . . . instead of doing the quarter dome on top I would do the front arc wall all the way up with about a 30 degree angle cut sliced back-to-front downward taken off so as to use a flat sheet across it. Taking three inches off the foam thickness would come close to making it possible to sleep across the trailer thus giving a bit more open floor area for band practices.

Half circle tube with a flat slanted top would be much easier, not give up too much headroom, probably not affect towing all that much AND would give a flat canvas to paint on inside. Probably would go with a bit lighter canvas as well since I'm not a Job type of fella when things start to go w-a-y south and I start to have a bad glue/hair day.

I'm sure the quarter dome is stronger for resisting wind from the front, but a few dowel rods going down through the flat panel and into the curved wall should more than give enough lateral strength in that regard. Would also have to be much easier to cover without a complex curve to deal with. You also end up with a flat surface for a sky light and/or a crank up vent/fan combo.

Jack... How much ? I dunno’ .... I’ve tried to pin him down for a price , but suggest you contact him directly ...
The correct foam would make things much easier ... much easier ... :o
The quarter dome was not the easiest thing to do , especially since we chose the “non -scientific” method ... slap it together and carve away the excess... :frightened: Another nose treatment would be fine ... I was just going for the “Stream’ “ look ... ;)

Thanks , Glad you like it ... :D

Jack, GPW. As far as aerodynamics the half dome may be worse that what Jack is thinking about. Just look at a Mooney airplane. The stabilizer is a straight spar, no taper to the rear like all other aircraft. They found that it did not matter one bit. Only mattered to make the stabilizer is wing shaped in cross section.

Pulling the FoamStream across the driveway with my little trailer dolly (HF) , we noticed a significant reduction in Drag with the rounded front end ..

GPW, you can always come to GA just across the state line to my house and we can get it registered in thirty minutes (takes 20 to get to town). You are welcome to use my name and address and then will "sell" it back to you and you can just transfer back to you in LA. Easy Peassy. As long as it does not weigh over 1000 pounds. Tag would be issued without a registration when you get to LA the tag office will there can issue registration if you have a tag already under the homemade trailer lots easier.

I like your Foam Stream. I will gladly take it. My third one will be a foamey standy . I am looking around for an axle first , my second will be a low profile, light weight, and 4 x 8 and I may build the frame from wood or may use a light weight aluminum bolt together frame. Haven't got there yet.

Nothing !! it’s All good !!! 8) :D getting ready to move the wife’s decorative pillow collection into the FS ... I sure wish that chipboard would come so I could finish it up ... So little left to do ... :NC

I don't know nuthin' 'bout birthin' no slipstream runner. I just know that living in town in a houses-ten-feet-apart area, I'm not going to get away with creating plastic based snow storms that don't melt in the middle of July. So any design changes are to:

1.) Alleviate the mess creation
B.) Make the actual process as easy as possible
III.) End up with a thing pretty enough to be proud of

Minnesota is joining in on the rule you to death idea for fund raising too. Up until last year you could do a 50cc or less motorized bicycle with a few rules but no fees or trouble. Last year they passed laws to make you have to register and tag them, carry insurance and all around treat them like motorcycles. And to get registered they "need" proof of origin, as in title. If you build it it's almost impossible AND you have to, besides carrying insurance, have to carry a bond to protect the state form lawsuits because they let you use it out in public. Electric assist bikes are still pretty much treated like regular bikes. So I'm looking at a 12 or 24 volt motor with a gas generator to power it. Since the gas engine isn't propelling the bicycle . . .
