Carry the trees down further with a moonlit stream? a cool Foam Stream logo? a photo collage? Heck I don't know...

I'm back on the campfire mural idea.

...or you could get some of that cypress, resaw some thin slats, bevel the long edges and do a nicely finished tongue and groove vertical seam panel, like wainscoting.

Something like this (lifted from the master) would be NICE on the bottom , and reflect a little bit of the local scenery ... and I can paint birds ...

Cypress slats would be nice too ... easy enough to fish out the skip at Vinnie’s ... 8)

My thought is that you would want to stick with a coordinating night scene so the upper and lower images are harmonious.

Convert the egrets to an evening scene from the bayou and tie it into your moon lit night scene above and you would really have something!

Inspiration: Google images "Bayou"

Treat the bottom like a large pond/small lake scene
and do a mirror-image/reflection of the upper painting...

Maybe cut an outline of a house/tent/teardrop and some bushes. Attach them where they overlap onto the mural. Have those objects painted to have the brighter light of a campfire. Not sure if I described that well, but would kinda give a 3D effect...

Since we're all about foam around here, I got to thinking on your tethering the foamie in a storm wind situation. I like the idea of the post in the ground and the dolly wheels to let it stay headed into the wind like sailboats do when at anchor. The only thing I would add would be some solid foam pontoons wedged between the axle and the floor to lift it with the rising tide should that be needed. At the weight we're dealing with I would think 6' X length X thickness from axle-to-floor would give you plenty of floatation, even loaded for the escape trip. After the hurricanes I lived through way back in south Florida though, I wouldn't want to try riding one out that way. But it would be fun to watch it from the concrete bunker.

Just being silly and not recommending anybody reading this try such actions. From now on all my silly suggestions get a disclaimer.

Discussed this with the wife .... in her usual Logical manner , she suggested I paint that kind of scene on a large canvas and sell it for several thou’ , paying for the FS entirely and leaving a little extra for the next build ... Makes sense eh ... ;)

No need for flotation , we’re on one of the highest spots in the area , and if we flood , then the whole city is gone . :o Likely (hopefully) the FS will be moved /re-located before the trouble starts ... (EVAC)

You could get a length of that cotton rope they use for curtain tie-backs and hot glue it along the bottom of you "moon roof". It could be any color for compliment/contrast, or just black to give it a simple finished look that will almost disappear.

GPW, you are doing some good work. But I just want you to be aware of a few new unexplored options on future projects that have capabilities that go well beyond anything I have seen you work with yet.

The magic stuff is called "C Flex" made by Seeman Composites who sell it directly. It has actually been around for years and people in the boat building industry are meanwhile coming up with even better methods like using structural foam cut in narrow strips to "plank" across the frames and then laminate with cloth outside and later inside.

This is what the C flex looks like
Image
read about it here http://smalltridesign.com/Trimaran-Articles/Construction-Methods/c-flex-boat-construction.html

Here is a picture of a C flex hull that has been finished externally and getting flipped over

More advanced technique using structural foam

With either of these methods, one has a lot fewer limitations that trying to directly form foam.

just got an e-mail the “electrical syetem” is on the way now ... Coleman GFI > 3 way ... That should do it for our humble needs ...
Note: Despite all the fine wiring jobs we’ve seen here , I just didn’t want to do ANY permanent wiring inside , just to better explore the possibilities and actual usage , without prior commitment to a set wiring plan .... another "test” ... Since we have so much floor space , and really so many ways of arranging the “furniture” .. we would assume the electrical system should be "flexible” (usage ) too ... Just planning Not to plan and just let it evolve out of actual necessity ...

Next is the “test camping” ... really nice weather now makes me think “Soon" ... ;)

Still waiting on the Legal papers to get it licensed ... another “evolution” ...
