Here’s the folded view , showing the two hinge elongated brace ... and how everything fits (or should fit) flat against the wall ... Thinking the exact location of the locking notches would best determined during the final fitting , aligning everything to create an "X “ shaped brace under the whole table top ...

Digging around in the Studio for the parts .... found the brace(s) material ... and a bunch of hinges ... :D

Thinking now we might use 3/8” plywood for the table top ... the 1/4” does in reality seem a bit Thin  ... Will have to go dig for some of that now ...

3/8 won't weigh much more than the 2/8 , or not in the size of the workpiece you're making. If you 'have to' go with the 1/4 a couple of support spars will do wonders to add rigidity.

Or just trim the edge out with a skirting frame of ripped down 1x... should stiffen up nicely. You could even get fancy and rabbet the top edge so the panel sits down inside hiding the ply edge.

Thanks Guys !!! I have to think more about this to keep it as simple and as flat as possible ... basically we want everything below the table top to fall in between the ribs , only the top thickness itself sticking out from there ... just have to get the hinging right . I know I have some 3/8” around here somewhere... :NC

If the table top was slightly smaller that the width of the ribs , we could make the whole thing fit between the ribs, nothing sticking out (invisible ... sorta’ )

OK, we have it all figured out now ... Was just a matter of playing with two boards and a hinge ...then it all became clear ... The hinge for part B (the hinged Brace) must be offset back from the rib surface to allow the brace to fold completely inside the rib space, allowing for the hinge thickness at the end ... that and not all hinges are alike ... :o

Saving a little weight , we sketched out the profile of the brace (tried to be artistic) ... Could even put lightening holes in it , but it may not make that much of a difference ...

Hey GeeP,

I know you have a drill, since you had to use it while building FS. So... I found an accessory you ABSOLUTELY NEED for the FS; http://www.gizmag.com/spin-chill-kickst ... ler/29382/ and http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/113 ... mbeersucks

I know I need at least one for my camping equipment. LOL

For the top unless you want to keep it thin as possible 1/8" or door skin top and bottom with a band of wood and a filling of foam!!

Mike ... COOL idea ... 8) Literally !!!

Brilliant ideas gone bad... yesterday , while digging around for some 3/8” ply ...The gardeners came over, the grass didn’t need cutting , so I had them help me clean up my shed... Which turned into a Major project ... Some Armadillos had tunneled under the shed foundation and up into the shed floor ... What a Mess !!! We had to move the boat , which had a broken tire , actually the bottom of the rim had rusted away ... difficult to move ... Then we had to empty the shed contents , which revealed the necessity to throw away a good bit of saved materials and things that had rotted inside ... making a huge trash pile out at the end of the driveway ... and leaving me with many sealed buckets of various knick-nacks that has to be gone through ... maybe we’ll find some of the Lost camping gear , we’ve been looking for , for years now ...
Today , we’ll be waiting on a truckload of “Washout” to fill in the shed floor ...creating a nice clean space to store the Steel Cargo trailer and the Foamie #1 ... and keep them out of the Snow ... Snow ?? (just in case)
Got so distracted , never did find that 3/8” ply ... :duh:

Still doing House (shed) work ... no 3/8” yet , but I did find some pretty hinges for the FS table , and a nice collection of assorted antique metal hardware... drawer pulls , handles , etc.... Old stuff I never knew I had :o ... Have to find a use for that ....

Found the 3/8” :dancing :P :D It’s only 18” wide so we’ll do some edging around the outside ... It’s not the prettiest of materials , so in keeping with the "spirit” of the FoamStream , we’ll just cover the top with some of that leftover chipboard , then rub some color into it with a cloth ,giving it a leather look .... a couple coats of poly , and we’re done ... That’s the new plan ... Funny how the plan keeps changing to adapt to the available materials ...

Got all the stuff now (and some extra hardware too) , ready to go .... :D

... and speaking of that ... More measuring , found a Nice piece 18” X 36” wide , which would make a good table top as it is ... even easier... I’d lose the extra 2” sticking out , but would gain 3” on each end ... Not so bad! There goes another plan eh .... and likely that may change too .... Maybe I’ll just build the thing and surprise everybody ...

Raining like crazy here (nothing unusual ) ... and it’s Nice and Cool ... (that’s different) 8) Great day for working on the table ... Inside !!!

Not to be too off topic , I finally got a Great nights sleep , and didn’t show up here at 4:00AM :o ... We’d read (here somewhere? ) that a blue light would help us reset our “body clocks” ... so we tried it , replacing the one tiny night light in the house with a Blue bulb (Christmas bulb) ... and it worked .... Slept like a baby , woke up refreshed ... So we’re going to make a tiny single blue LED “nightlight" for the FS ... Just sayin’ , if you have trouble sleeping , try it .... It worked for me , a notorious insomniac... ;)
Gotta’ be Rested to have Fun ... at least at my age ...

Got the table parts cut , and here’s how they roughly go together ( sorta’ ...upside down) ... Have to cut the rib brace ,where the table is screwed to, with an accurate measurement off the ribs at that point ... Yet to do that cause’ it’s still raining ... :rainy: The notches in the supports will be drawn during the test fit to get an accurate cut and fit ...

And folded...

Got all the parts hand sanded , edges nicely rounded , ready for priming and paint ... Brace hinges marked ... The wife approved and mentioned we should go out in the trailer and see which height the table would work best at ... That works for me !!!
Looks like we’ll be painting it the same color as everything else in the inside l, so it will basically disappear (blend in) when folded ... What she wants ...
