I can vouch for the foamie in snow. I have an old "steel" horse trailer out back. I store my hay/feed and tack in there. When it gets really cold (freezlng), with rain or snow the door will freeze and I just can't get it to open. Since we have been having these aweful temps in the negative, I thought I would just store my hay and feed in hubby's little shop, but he had a gasoline spill and I did not want to chance the gas fumes to be absorbed by the hay. So the light bulb turned on, THE FOAMIE! I opened the door and wow how much warmer inside it was. So I threw a bale of hay in there and some feed.
Its great to have multi-purpose things. :D

Doc,
Well, after reading about your results in the Foamstream :) .... I thought I'd see how the Big Pink does.
So yesterday, I put a milkhouse heater in and went from 20 degrees to 65 degrees in about 15 minutes. 8)
So I took advantage of that and spent some time working on the bed support.
This morning there's 10 inches of snow on top of everything, and I'm stuck inside.
I just might just have to do some more work inside the TD today ...

10 inches. Hmm.

Any sign of sagging in the roof at all?

When you say, "stuck inside" (first I assume you are kidding, not literally trapped inside of the camper), what do you mean? (Visions of iced closed doors.)

No sign of sagging at all.
I'm not sure I could stand on the roof (maybe ?), but I've laid on it before without any problems or signs of deflection :)
and no, I'm not stuck in the TD
I'm not literally stuck inside the house either, but the weather is miserable cold outside...

I’ve got a question .... Some of you have mentioned that you’ve owned pop-up trailers ? So what’s the story on those little Fatty tires ??? The tires on the FS still look a bit “skinny” to me ... and as yet we still don’t have but 2.5” clearance, tire to floor ... Those little Fatties might solve all the clearance worries and look cool, and slightly lower the whole trailer too ....
... and (another question  ) How much do those pop -ups weigh ?
One of the big mysteries as yet is how much the FS actually weighs... Once we’re able to tow it around (legally) , the first thing we want to do is get it weighed.... From all my guesstimations' , and calculations, we keep coming up with a figure < 1000 lbs. It feels light to me ... I can tow it by hand across my gravel driveway ... (with dolly)
Once we find out what it actually weighs , we can validate all our conclusions as to tire and suspension questions... and not depend on a WAG ...

when my dad bought his pop up, everybody told him to get the wide tires, they handle heat, loads better, and make towing smoother. They also won't sink into soft dirt on the lawn or campground compared to a skinny tire.

Row, I was looking at the little 10” fatties... some of which have a load range up to 1600lbs. (probably more than we need) They would give me another whole inch of clearance , without resorting to further jacking up the trailer or fooling with the suspension... plus lower the entry by as much (or maybe a little more ?) making it easier to get in and out of ... Plus look cool too !!! 8) Seems like a good idea huh ?

Now we’ve all heard about how being a smaller diameter spin faster , but then , I’m an old geezer who drives slow anyway ... If I get a trailer to 55 mph ,that’s a big deal ... :o

Further reading indicates the fatties are only slightly less overall diameter than the 12” wheels ... so maybe we’d still have to lift the springs with blocks ...Thinking about an inch is all that could be reasonably achieved with lift blocks ,and all that’s really needed ... More to this than meets the eye ... But then we still like the look of the Fat tire over those skinny balloons ...
