I appreciate the support from all of you, but the jury is still out on this contraption. We'll see if it holds together when I take it out on a day when we have our Wyoming 60mph gusts. Did any of you note all the wrinkles and blemishes on the exterior that I added just to make sure no one could accuse me of buying a factory-built model? (I've also started thinking of the rank ugliness of the canvas/spackle surface - which looks fine from about 15 feet out - as my theft protection plan.)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We know how hard and complicated it is to accomplish one of these builds regardless of making it "perfect" or even 100/ct done. The fact that you have created something from an idea, put in your blood, sweat, tears and loving care, to the point where it is campable is a beautiful thing in anyone's book... or at least it should be.

Ya’ know , we never thought of a Foamie as something you’d take to the Car Show .... Not designed to win Beauty contests , but something substantial to camp in that’s a reasonable weight to handle , an even more reasonable price , and a little bit of DIY thrown in ... All for Fun and FUN for All !!! ... ...

CP, have you tried Ironing the wrinkles out ??? That was a trick we’ve used before , the heat reactivates the glue underneath ( you did use Glue huh ? ) and you can re attach any loose cloth ... Too Hot melts the foam and you’ll make things worse .... experiment low to high to see what heat works best for you ... try to keep it under 200F ... Don’t use Mama’s Iron either ... get one from the thrift store for this kind of work ... Fortunately I got mine hand me down from H.R. H. when she got a “special” iron for the Royal delicates ... Sometimes it works real good , sometimes not so much .... Or you can just park the wrinkled side in the Sun and they’ll likely go away in time (summer ) ... Foam does that ... pretty amazing really !!!
