you know this is really the only place that understands just that! the foamie sat there since our evac due to irene. and when i went out to get it ready for this past weekend it was a really great feeling.
once i got to the site and backed it in, our friend there said "i'll leave you now to set up". i went out and broke out the chair and flipped down the counter in the back, set the stove out and well that was it. i was like i am set up.
i was a tent camper my whole life, now with the foamie i realized that almost all my gear was tents and blankets. now that is all right there, my tent/bed on wheels.
i know everyone here knows that feeling. i am still so darn thrilled with this foamie. and now the really great part is that i have been on several trips this year, from cold to hot to cool. many, many more trips than ever before with the tent. i still have plenty of room inside my car now and if needed have tons of space in the foamie, (like for evacs).
about the only real camping tip i could give is "the tarp is my friend" ! i haven't used an easy up yet, but i now have one. i will be setting it up this coming weekend. mainly because hubby is going on this one. but for a single old lady, i can set the tarp up myself. might not look pretty but it works. and that is the kind of person i am. i travel very light with my gear.
i have 1 plastic box for my cooking stuff/ spices, plates, electric skillet ect.
..........1 cooler
..........1 propane stove
..........1 bag of left over items from tent camping, poles. hammers, tape, ropes, that sort of thing.
inside the foamie is of coiurse the bed, my computer (whether or not i use it, its there for movies or games), a bag for games, and entertainment. oh and the most important thing is the porta potty.
i also carry 2 chairs.
when needed the a/c or heater.
that is the basics. so when i pull into a site, i really have nothing to set up. i just get the chair out and flip down the counter, take out the skillet or propane stove, and there, i am done. of course except for 2 trips this year i have added the tarp.
i really love this foamie! (even thought its not pretty yet

or even finished on the inside yet).
i don't like that this weekend is our last planned trip of this year. it seems like it went by so darn fast. already looking at a where to go next year. i am hoping that maybe we can get out year round. would love to attempt an outing at least once a month. although i hate cold, so once it gets too cold i will stay home.
sorry i did not mean to write a book.
