Yeah, I don't buy in to naming snow storms. Seems like just another way to hype up the news.

This AM was 3 below zero on the Ford dash. That's right; minus 3 deg F indicated. :frightened: :NC

Didn't get any higher than the teens during the day and... wait for it... they are calling for another 2-4 inches starting up for the morning commute.

Of course it will have to warm up some for that to happen, but just into the low-mid 20's.

Then snow showers Wednesday. (Are you seeing a trend here yet? )

Then brutal cold again on Thursday. :snowstorm:

That's it. That's all I've got. :disappointed:

The weather has continued to stay in the teens with overnights into single digits, maybe getting up to low 20’s here and there.

On Wednesday I thought I might catch a break when it got up into the 30’s, but after punching out I was asked to punch back in to get the fork lift unstuck out of the back of the company truck. (Snow pack at the loading dock had caused the van to sit uneven and the fork lift got stuck inside the back of the truck behind the dock plate.) So by the time I had that settled Wednesday was a bust.

Then it went back to being cold.

Today it got up to the low 30’s again, so I packed a pot of coffee into a thermos and went on up for a couple of hours. Despite the outside temperature the loft was only at 23 deg F.

I tinkered with the hinge for the shovel mount hasp. Karl had a bunch of rolled aluminum pipe rings leaning up blocking the Bader (for a net tunnel that will be featured on that show “Treehouse Masters”), and had the mill set up for something that I did not want to disturb, so I just used the little fine file to square up the ends and round over the corners. Then I traced it out on the cedar and chiseled the mortise by hand.
Image

The heaters had been making steady but slow progress, only getting it up to 34… and it was snowing... again.

That big red thing with snow piled halfway up it is Karl’s enclosed car trailer (used as a storage box).

Too cold. Sucks the ambition right out of me.

Mom sent this link to a nicely restored Serro Scotty in Sunset magazine.

Me too! This weather sucks the ambition right out of me also. The Scotty link was a nice diversion. Nice and light.

Same here, 40 deg F and the snow on the roof is creeping and making grumbling noises.

Had a call from work that the roof drain pipes were backed up and leaking into the warehouse. Had to direct them to go out to the street and dig out the locations were the roof drains run to the gutters. Old grandfathered drains get backed up when the plows cover them up.

Would have maybe been able to get some heat up in the loft (maybe), but the Daytona 500 is on and I am couch bound. Yvette got going and out before me and shoveled the couple of inches of slushy stuff we got last night, so I made her hot cocoa from scratch with a bit of cinnamon and that fancy maple syrup drizzled over whipped cream.

I don't envy your weather, KC. ...You can say that to me, come summer, with those smokey triple digit days, here, though.

Stay Warm! :snowstorm:

Thanks Sharon. The "warmer" temps will try to hang in there, gradually dropping off as the week goes on. So maybe I can get something done before that shuts me down again.

Hey guy. I am having withdrawal here. And I don't want to hear any whining about weather. I just fear next year will be our turn. Winter here has almost been a non event the past 3 years. Last time I had to use my tractor to scrape snow was winter of 2011-2012. This winter I will have used fewer wood pellets than ever before and I even turned the thermostat up 1 degree ( I am getting old ).

Take care back there. I am glad it is not happening to me.

Weatherman was all excited; snow 6 weekends in a row. Another 6 inches Sunday night into Monday morning.

I know it is nothing compared to other regions, but we have piles and piles of the stuff compared to a typical year.

Enough already. For Jimmy knee's sake it will be DST on Sunday. :R

I did make it up to the shop on Saturday. Made the upper shovel mount again because it had a few boogers I didn't like. There was a chip out at the upper bolt hole, and I kind of messed up the hinge mortise. I made it a little taller for more margin at the hole and so that the rain slope on the top doesn't make the hinge area as small as the first one. It took a lot of hand sanding, but it fits the shovel handle a little better now, too.

Not totally slacking off, but almost.

Good to hear you been able to get some done. Winter can be miserable when it just hangs on and on. We even had a tiny bit of snow this morning. Just enough to drive on the highway about 5 mph slower.

Now don't loose that shovel. You will probably never find another that will fit your trailer.

The shovel is a fairly generic tru-temper variety. Still, that is one of the reasons I made the mounts bolt on. I can always make a new set to suit other options.

Oh yeah, it is snowing again. Again.

Chin up, KC - we change the clocks next weekend. Spring is on its inexorable way.
We've got daffodils and cherry blossoms out on the west coast but I've got family back east that have dug themselves out of their houses.
Could be better...but it could be worse, too.
