I went camping at Top Sail Island, NC last week.
123727 123724 123725

On the way home, I was able to weigh The Big Pink
123719

It weighed 1000 lbs exactly on the scale ( The scale is certified to be within 20 lbs.)
123718

That's fully loaded with the refrigerator, AC unit, spare tire, hydraulic jack, jack stands, loaded cooler, 4 folding chairs, a popup tent ,luggage etc...

I took out the cooler, and the spare and quickly shed 60 lbs. So I'm figuring 900 lbs basic configuration.

I was concerned about how much air to put in the tires, so I aired the tires to 40 PSi as a best guess to see how they would do. It worked great, I'd check the hubs and tire surface when we stopped, and they were just barely warm after running at highway speeds for a couple hours. Much cooler then when I pull my motorcycle trailer.
The TD pulled fine. Every once in awhile, there was just an almost imperceptible tugging. The TD was loaded the most it had ever been.
We had a spare tire, spare hub, loaded cooler, rug, suitcases, 4 chairs, popup tent, etc, as well as the refrigerator, Air conditioner, coffee pot, toaster oven, etc
This is the third camping trip, and the first with the AC installed. The AC was great, we were right on the water, and it was humid and hot.
It cooled down quick, and the fan running acted as "white noise" to drown out the traffic going over the bridge nearby.
The campsite was right next to the bulkhead, we went fishing off the campsite picnic table. Some of the locals had shrimp traps next to the bulkhead, and were happy to share as they emptied them in the morning.. Friends had rented a house nearby on the beach to celebrate their 39th anniversary, so we used their stove/oven and feasted on fresh flounder, mackerel, trout and shrimp.

We had a great time, and while there are a couple future "upgrades" I wanna do, I'm calling The Big Pink done !

Hello Tac,

Well, I finished reading about your build (and Mike's beginning of it). What a wonderful hand you had with skinning it. It is beautiful. So I have taken copious notes about your ideas and hope to apply one or two along the way. Very nice!

Thanks GPW !

and that the "Big Pink" is actually a "Fidget"
a Foamie Widget :D

“ Mike gave up the Big Pink because of his wife “ .... I’d better not comment on that again because I had to give up TWO trailer builds because of the wife  ... Third time’s the charm .... TG !!! :worship:

Good job on dat Pink! I'm surprised it turned out so heavy, but then it is a big trailer, and you've got lots of goodies in it.

GPW wrote:I just have to wonder what Big Mike’s thinking now about Foamies ...

I like foam, but I would probably do a hybrid foamie if I ever did another one.

Mary C wrote:and that the "Big Pink" is actually a "Fidget"

I imagine the shape must be very close to a widget. Both the widget and the Big Pink get inspiration from the Cub/Modernistic.

Of course it's wise. If your wife doesn't support you, then it's no fun!

I think TAC did an excellent job finishing the Big Pink. It couldn't have gone to a better person!

Mike...
