Also like the dimples on a golf ball, though a golf ball travels faster than most trailers. I hope.

If I was serious about weight reduction I would start with myself. Could save 150 pounds there. At least

Randy cool video.

glen the Americas cup sailboats used "shark" skin applied to the underside of boats it made them go faster.

I would prefer form and function and cheap over looks and more expense

if one wants a fiberglass boat hull look and expense doesn't matter then use gell coat and fiberglass.

I think you two have proven the concept works and the two bigger ongoing builds will prove if bigger ones can be built.

Pete, I think we Old Guys (said respectfully) do have more Practical sensibilities , and really don’t need the “flash “ ... we’re already COOL enough without all that eh !!! 8)

My thing now is Zero maintenance ... I don’t give a rat’s if a little weave is showing ... or if it has a few patches ... More closely resembling the owner ... :o

I'm getting to the age where "pretty" is generally synonymous with "close enough."

This thread captured me because of the "thrifty" part. Not only am I as dumb as a sack of hammers but I'm also so poor I can barely afford to pay attention.

If you're building for just yourself, you only need to meet your own expectations. If you're building for a market, that's entirely a different kettle of fish.

Hey Glenn, and all...

Could something like this be done in a foamie style?

is that gray shaded part canvas? i don't see any reason what so ever why this could not be done as a foamie.

i just read that thread. not sure, but i got the feeling that the canvas was to be stored. so using velcro or snaps would work for that part. could use easy up sides for that canvas part., could cut and put clear shower curtains for the window. all home made, equals faily cheap. a little gg would work to hold it all together. and one could do it very neatly if one put in the time to be really neat with that stuff.

the hinge part i would think could be done just like a hatch is. that could be covered with the tb2 and canvas, just like i have in mine. no water is coming in thru my hinge area.

i like that under bed/side out storage. i think this is really a great idea.

Hey Mike instead of canvas use some solid lighter substance that can lock together and unlocked just lay flat on the bed area. I just hate popups and the fact it is still a tent and noise is just horrendous. If you've ever seen an aliner they got it right but the prices just totally blow chunks.

I like the bejesus out of this plan Mike....building is fun but the design is where the real challenge and fun lies.

Don’t see why not , but then again like Steve remarked ,aside from the noise, introducing a tent into the foamie formula seems to negate one of the Big positives of a Foamie ... The insulation factor ... which seems especially important right now ... :o
While it’s possible to construct most anything out of foam , not everything may be “practicalâ€
