granddaughter 7 :P :new-bday: , I'll be 70 on march 4 I too like cupcakes

I too have a budget and the only two things I have bought on time in the past was my house and a couple cars.

airplanes, boats, motorcycles, trailers, ham radio gear and tools all saved for before buying.

I have learned to use my credit card to pay bills.
this card pays me for using it and is paid off every month
you would be surprised how much you spend and what you can use the money earned to buy more stuff.

good luck shopping.

Eagle , not knowing about something means you have to Ask Questions !!! Write your questions down , then write the answers down .... Like a list of knowledge ... then you’ll know huh ? It’s Easy !!! ;)
Simple things like date codes on tires .. how the welds look , are new bearings easily available , how are the lights hooked up , many tiny questions that are important for your overall trailer “confidenceâ€

I got the HF ad in the mail today and the trailers are in it as well as online. Personally, Northern Tool has a light weight 5x8 trailer thats bolt together. I think the shipping weight is 265lbs. Item# 125692. It looks good to me, it's probably the one I will be buying due to the size and weight. I looked at TSC's 5x8. It weight like 500lbs I think. That doesn't leave much room for building materials.
It was nice in central Ohio today! 8)

every trailers that had mesh floors, all the mesh was warped. i would want to remove the mesh anyway.

i would be removing the wood floors on those also.

now the weird part, all the 5 or 6 x 8's all had round tube like rails, not flat. i have never seen that before, so those i would think would be harder to afix a flat board to. and another thing i noticed is that the rails and wheel frame(wheel fender?) is attached to the rails, (i think on all of them)

i did not go in and ask any questions yets. i just did drive-bys, i was running out of time and had to get back home for before the kids got home from school. but i think i am heading back out tomorrow to check some more.
on the way home i did notice a trailer sitting on the side with a for sale sign. i will also go back there and check that one out.

i am going to check out hf and nt again now.

If you go to carry-on site and look at the specs the weights are listed a lot less than what TS says the trailers weigh.

Remember if you want real information go to the manufacturer not the vendor.

so are you saying these trailers are the ones from tractor supply?

ok the mesh floor one says 375lbs, wood floor says 650lbs

could those wood floors really weight that much more, 275lbs more?

i hope the weather is nice again tomorrow, i will be looking closer at them then.

Yes these are what tractor supply sells just remember a wood floor weighs more than the mesh floor. I'd say leave the mesh on throw the black stuff on the bottom of a sandwich floor and bolt it down. Leaving the mesh would just strengthen the floor and have virtually no floor sag anywhere due to better weight distribution.

it took me a bit to realize the name of the trailer is 'carry on". i thought at first that is just want folks called that type of trailer.
yes the mesh floors are lighter, but what i meant is that those 4 or so wood panels on the wood floored ones can weight that much? those floor boards must really be heavy.

now back to the mesh floors, they all seem to be warped. if one were to put a floor on them wouldn't there be a chance then the floors could become warped? and by removing the mesh, i would lighten it up a bit also?

says ball size is 1 7/8 inches in diameter your 2 inch would not work correctly.

yes the trailer would end up being lighter
the floor would be resting entirely on the cross pieces instead of perched upon the mesh
I would think a lot of grinding would be required to get the cross pieces smooth once the mesh is removed and all thats left are welds.
I also would consider how much weight you would save and how much work it would take to remove the mesh and then figure out if it's worth all the trouble.

for what it is worth I don't know how the above bit of advice helps
I guess it's saying look at the trailer and do it your way. ;)

That 5x10G looks pretty Nice ... Not that heavy , and I doubt if you'd even double that weight with a foamie cabin ...
I’d leave the mesh ... Road Rash protection ... and like Pete said , a PIA to get rid of for minimal weight savings ... 9â€
