The reason I ask my little boxer pup is having a growth spurt and the vet says everything is fine but in a day he probably slept around 19 hours give or take...
And Yes I do mean BOOM not human or canine ..hmmmm squirrel...no just kidding and its not for testing out structural integrity of foamies either I have found a site that has them but I'm in Canada and they are in the USA So I thought I'd see if there were any black powder enthusiasts on here first and we all know how much this thread gets read... I'm looking for no bigger then a golf ball..anything bigger and some one could get hurt...plus it might give some ideas to fellow trailer enthusiasts for security systems

oh i see, your pups i think are way younger than mine. yours are still baby pups. so yes, they will sleep for many hours a day. don't forget mine is a herder, so he has to be doing something all the time or he gets in trouble. i don't think boxers are like that at all, more laid back. at least my daughters boxer pup is that way. he is more calm than my collie, and her boxer is 1 month older than mine.

If you left the mesh intact, I'd venture to say you could simply spray something like thompsons underneath once a year and not have to monkey with the black icky crap since the mesh will shield rocks hitting it and greatly minimize chances for nicks and cuts running down the road. You pull it down with carriage bolts or elevator bolts where the cross members are and the mesh and floor will flatten and conform with that much pressure being applied across the surface and it will be a good looking area no dipping and swaying like the mesh does. Do a 3/4" light sandwich with the luan on both sides comes out barely above 1" in overall width light and ultra strong and a perfect base for your cabin to be built on. If you use this principle on all the lower areas each one has a full length 1x2 running inside the end of it and glue and deck screws can mate them together and have way more strength needed to keep the structure intact and a base for the foam to attach to and you could then insert the keys on the outside edge like Mike was doing and have better support for the foam and have the lightest build possible unless you switch to full on aluminum framing but then thrifty gets tossed to the curb as 1x2 and glue are much cheaper than aluminum tubing and someone to weld them.

"the mix"

Postby bonnie » Thu Feb 02, 2012 7:50 am

GPW,

Would you please post your mix formula somewhere handy to find? My chuckbox is beginning to look like one and we are going to have pleasant weather for a few more days, so I could waterproof stuff. :)

Also, if you would, is there any particular primer you would recommend over it?

Bonnie ... 75% Mineral Spirits (common paint thinner) - 25% Cheap Polyurethane varnish ... multiple coats , especially on the end grains...
Once it’s good and dry you can use most anything over it ... I used Kilz WB as my primer .. on my Foamie and on my wooden TD build , which got a liberal application of the mix... You can just paint directly over it , it’s like a sealer ... just a light sanding removes the bumps (dust) , then vacuum and paint ...

well i was going to go out yesterday to find another ball, but i got a phone call from the school. my poor boy was sick. so i had to get him and by the time i got back, i just felt exhausted. i could barely stand up. i hit the bed. only got up to let simba and minnie out. i slept all night. the little person is still in bed.

today its raining. so i doubt i will get out today. saturday is my gd's party. friday i must start on the cupcakes. so if i get out anytime soon it will have to be tomorrow. but only if the weather is nice. i don't like cold or rain.

so anyone want to come up on saturday? i am sure there will be plenty of princess cupcakes for all. and heck, you guys can go trailer/ball shopping with me! maybe we could load the trailer up with the supplies also. if you all leave today, you'll get here before saturday! 8)

Heck if she does the sandwich floor like I just posted on her other thread and uses your mixture on the bottom, I don't see any need to do anything with the bottom side and just bolt that sucker down to the mesh side and enjoy cost savings of not adding any other layer to the bottom and use that money somewhere else needed.
