Had a friend of mine drop in today from Indy.... He’s an Engineer, and also a trailer guy .... He looked over the stack of foam and ribs , then the technical drawings and pronounced it “ Workable “ ... From an Engineer , that’s Good !!!! Didn’t get one argument how to make it better .... Very Encouraging !!! :D

Idle hands and all that !!! :o  Never been so busy since I supposedly retired !!! :R

Now we find out our treated crossmembers may cause some problems with the attachment bolts ... corrosion and failure ... :o have to investigate this further ... Always something to think about ... :?

FYI Glen, galvanized hardware works with treated lumber.
That's how docks are held together.

I thought the paddleboard pair was making the snow at their house ?

Regretfully , the Foamstream project had ground to a halt while we work on everybody else’s projects  ... and now it’s raining ... :o Progress is painfully slow , but I’m sure we’ll have it all done by the 6/1/2013 target date ... No worries !!!

Got a couple weeks free time (so far) ... Wanting to get back to this ... Am rolling back the rugs in the Studio , making a space to assemble the skeleton ... Too Cold/windy/nasty to be working outside on the trailer parts .... Was going to do the build from the ground up , trailer , floor , then cabin .... But it just isn’t working out that way ... I can’t imagine any problems later on if I keep to a strict set of measurements ... and we can build the cabin and then make the floor to match EXACT ... so it may work out better that way .... Schmaybe’ ???

Plan well. Document the plan. Stick to the plan. Build on!

When you question something in the plan later... remember, "You made the plan the way you did for a reason, but just can't remember why that is at the moment. Stick to the plan."

I find myself telling myself this all of the time. After many years of 3D modeling I've learned that after working out the spatial relationships of all of the materials and thicknesses, and offsets and assemblies from one to each other, the numbers that wind up on the plan seldom have anything to do with those relationships. The numbers that were used to design the piece are related to each other, while the numbers on the plan are the things that the fabricator needs to know to make sense of the individual piece or assembly that he is trying to make and hold in his hand. Without a magic decoder ring, it is very hard to correlate one to the other.

So my advice when building in a modular fashion is to: (a) plan well; (b) document the plan; and (c) stick to the plan!

It also helps if you look at the plan every once in a while! :frightened: :D

Christmas morning , the presents have been unwrapped , the smell of turkey pervades the house ... and visions of foamie’ trailers dance in our head... :o

Went to HD yesterday , figured they wouldn’t be busy, to get some Gripper ... While I was there , thought to look at the wood selection , maybe we could get some lumber for the FoamStream floor and stringers .... What a disappointment !!!! Their wood is just the worst c**p I’ve seen in a long time ... :duh: Sad !!! ... and not cheap either ...
Got the Gripper  Now back to a real lumber yard for some Good wood ... Had thought of using cedar fence boards for the floor , but once I saw the offerings that idea went right out the window ... We’ll just have to summon up more Coin for the better grade of Cedar .. no use putting junk wood on a good Foamie eh ?

Even though this is a much larger trailer than my last one , the Intent is still to do it in a “Thrifty" manner ... so far, so good ... still shopping ...

Do you have a restore close? They, at least here, have construction materials at times. BUB's engineered flooring came from one. It's already finished and I got enough to do BUB for 30 dollars.
