This guy drives from the Montana side of the Magruder toward Elk City. No footage of Poet Creek, but good footage of the area, including Salmon River and Burnt Knob lookouts, and some good drone footage.

Youtube video: THE CORRIDOR: Driving the Only Road in 3.5 Million Acres of Wilderness (26.23 min)

Not the most interesting presenter, but fairly well edited and produced.

Yes, I am aware. I've read (most of) the thread. It was one I immediately had great interest in and began to devour in the year or so I was lurking here before I joined. I petered out a bit around page 180-220 or so where it became clear that pursuit of perfection in the bodywork was a greater goal than going camping. I actually get that on a certain level but my problem is more of procrastination stemming from my fear of my complete incompetence in a given task. I got utterly lost in the pages and pages of technical/engineering speak and realized I was only understanding a small amount of what was being said. I lost interest in what was absolutely fascinating to me in the first hundred pages or so.

Going on 300 pages and 12 1/2 years now. I recalled a few times (just looked back a handful of pages and found three of them) where you appeared to be issuing some friendly ribbing over this build not yet rolling down the road. I made a feeble attempt at piling on to what I perceived as locker room humor. If I have misunderstood and stepped on toes, I apologize.

Hey, we are all unemployed stand-up comedians. No problemo.

KC's build isn't the first I've seen that got stymied by the day-to-day stuff that life brings us.

I drove the Magruder last year, as part of the Idaho BDR. My favorite camp site of the entire trip, was camping up on top of Burnt Knob. I was in 4Lo, mostly for the power to get up some of the hills, but everybody else did it in 2wd without any issues. I wanna go up there again, preferably NOT in fire season though. I'd love to explorer the area a bit more, as well as that part of Montana where it exits.

**EDIT** I was wrong. We camped on top of Green mountain, just a bit west of Burnt Knob.

I've driven it through, east to west, just once. But we staff Salmon Mountain Lookout that's on the easterly side every year for a few days. Except this year, they are doing major work on it. Damn.

It's a big chunk of change out there. :frightened:

I got the joke.

I took the Bed & Breakfast (before I knew it's name) up thru New England in 2016, and stopped by to meet KC. He is a thouroughly interesting fellow. I had chided him a few times
on the perfection he was aiming for.

KC, I'm very happy to see you're on it again.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Thanks guys, and as always, awesome pics, Tony.

Life does throw us some changes. Divorced now (if you all hadn't figured that out yet), made the move to my new-to-me house (that was stressful on a real time crunch... just when you pay off one mortgage, here comes another one... jeez), but I think I'm doing okay... even better now. Sober almost 3 years. So many projects and most of them aren't getting done. Need more energy.

I've been joking to myself that Karl kicked me out and is holding the camper hostage, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Since he is so busy with jobs all of the time and isn't ready to disrupt the shop to help me get the cabin down out of the loft, I either need to get back over there and continue with the bodywork, or... well, that seems to be my only reasonable option.

The saga continues.

Sober and ready to do carnivore and that will massively change more than your energy.

As every, Tony, thank you for volunteering to do this service. I'm sure it feels like you should be paying them for the privilege, but it is still a noble thing watching out for the greater good of our land. Nice pic, as always. Thank you brother.
