I laid down a whooooole lotta EPMD rubber gasket around the edge.

I screwed the brackets into the skylight frame. There are 2x2 pine supports flush with the interior roof line here. I made some wooden knobs out of t-nuts and scrap wood.

And that's it! IF you crank down on all 6 knobs you can get it pretty tight. I think it should work.... and if it leaks, well it's easy to pop it off and fix it!

I still need to finish the frame (paint? polyurethane?), glue it to the plexi and add a wind fairing to the roof on the forward side of the hatch. That way driving rain should fly over the gasket.

I'll definietly give yall an update after the first rainy night.

CARNAGE! Come to think of it, I'm lucky I made it a couple hundred hours without a drop of blood. Gotta slow down a bit...

I trimmed the door with 2 x 2 inch 1/16th thick aluminum angle. I LOVE IT. Also, I made a drip edge on top with the same stuff. Before I bolted it to the camper I clamped it to a bench and hammered the outer edge so that it will drip.... that's the point right??

GPW - Thanks! I really like the orange peelyness of it. 1.5 coats of gripper and 1.5 coats of behr marquee paint, both rolled on with a 3/8 inch nap roller. It really filled in the weave most places.

The paint doesn't feel super durable, but it should be very easy to touch up down the road. But hey, It's a TRUCK not a show car, these things are meant to be used and abused!

You know, that’s exactly the point .... It’s a Utilitarian device , but still can look Nice and the general public doesn’t have a clue ...

Paint takes a couple weeks to really harden , so be patient ... it gets Better ... ;) Most minor dents , when left alone , will heal themselves over time ... Never saw FG do that eh ...

You will be amazed at how tough that paint is when it is in the fabric.

Biggest milestone yet, still hard to believe it's real! Now I've got about 48 hours to do the entire interior hahahahahahahaha

I only got it up to 30 mph, but could barely tell a difference in braking/acceleration.

I had 4 friends help lift it on. The two forward corners are heaviest and they didn't feel over 60 lbs.... I wanted to get it on a scale, but I could pass up having four willing bodies around at once. Without the countertops (20 pounds?) and skylight (15 pounds?) I really don't think it weighes over 350lbs. Which is insane. ;)
