Hey all, have you folks seen the awesome restoration that Alfie did on her '39 stake side/canvas top TD.

Very old school use of wood and canvas waterproofing treatments, and a uniquely designed "sort of Conestoga Wagon"-esque TD.

Very cool, and worth a look.

Nothing to comment on, it's just been so long since anybody said anything here . . . It just seems a shame that this thread doesn't keep growing some. What do the new folks have to accomplish if there's not more writing on it. Tell us more about the bridge. The turkeys. The ballast. Just sayin' . . .

Jack , I think we just ran out of words.... :frightened: As you know , a Foamie’ trailer is really a very Simple device, and once we got all the nay sayers out the way , there’s not so much to discuss anymore ... We all know it works , is Thrifty , and can be built by almost anyone... We’ve All proven that !
However, we have noticed a reluctance to read this entire thread , it is rather long , and sometimes going waaay off topic ... (I blame myself :duh: ) Plenty of information had been discussed here,it’s all available and the new folks are always welcome to ask about anything they can’t find... so no problems really ...

One point that tends to resurface frequently is the idea of some folks confusing this with other types of campers ... These Foamie’s are Not like RVs , TD’s , or any of the other “commercially produced" trailers . Foamies are a really Simple Thrifty Alternative to high priced , high maintenance trailers ... The Practical Camper... more befitting our somewhat sagging economy ...not requiring “forever” and a wood shop to construct . Basically as has been said before ... a "Hard Tent" ... sorta’...

Just a side note , I’m developing a rather long list of Hunters that want a Foamie' as a hunting camp ... They all can see the advantage for their needs ... I don’t have to say a thing ... they explain it to me ... :o If I was a bit younger, I’d start a business making Foamie’ hunting camps ...

I think that the majority of the chit chat has just found The Foam Stream thread and I think that we should bring it back here. I am thinking about building another Foamie. This time I am going to build the "box" first and fold the canvas all the way around making it totally out of foam I will put straps to hold it down on the trailer. OR build a four by eight canvas covered once inch foamie making it look like wood................. OR perhaps a little 4 x 8 woodie, no I dont think I can................OR a foamie standie..........I cant make up my mind

I love all the suggestions and since we have gotten a little more technical with our foamies we are still learning and teaching but i must say I have found another problem, :o Bats. :? where my foamie is parked in the Barn the insect loving little nite bats have been parking(sleeping) at night above my Grits and pooping on my TD top. Found it yesterday. So I think I will get a large cover for it after I paint it again. at least that will help keep the poop off it.
