Excellent!! I like your folding table option. I was considering soss hinges myself but dubious about their strength without other support, hanging them from the prop is great. Meanwhile I've just got a scruffy shelf in there and am camping without the fold out.

So George , now that you’ve shown us how well somebody can construct a quality foamie , AND had a successful maiden voyage , how do you “feel" about Foamies now ? More confident ? Lots of new construction /design ideas ?

I always knew that the fomie was a good idea. It was fun to tackle the fomies unknown building process and overcome each challenge as it presented itself. I find it a privilege to be one of the pioneers of the foamie revolution. I had so much fun building #1 that, as you know, # 2 is already nearly done.

I like the idea that they are light and have limited wood to rot. Pulling was a dream. Hardly knew it was there even with it loaded with camp gear. Maybe more foamies to come soon.

Think how strong all that overlapped paper is … Paper is made from Wood …

One of the reasons I chose this technique. I tried just paint.... . Granite I did not want to add a lot of weight so I though I would give this a try. Looks great now , but not sure how well it will hold up to expansion/contraction of the foam in weather extremes. This is a test...

The counter will probably eventually pull loose a little at some (not all) of the edges, usually where there has been something heavy sitting, and then curl just a tad. (And I do mean a tad.) If you can use PL2000 on foam (I think you can?), that will match the polyurethane and brown paper and should fix the problem there, at the edge. After 6 years of walking on mine, it finally has one spot that pulled loose and needs to be fixed and I think that's pretty good. But then, mine is on wood.... (I'll fix that spot this winter.) Also, a knife will cut it just like a knife will cut Formica; so, be sure to use a cutting board. It is easy to add extra layers of polyurethane when needed and that will usually fill in small cuts, etc. You'll be able to tell when you have a cut because the water will get in that spot a little and temporarily darken the paper there. Wait for the water to evaporate before you fix it.
