The top ridge isn't worth the time it'd take to remove it.

Just call it the "Keystone Inverted Keel". It could actually
be considered a "design element".

The scoop hotwire sounds like the best approach for smoothing
the interior front - why immerse yourself in the foam crumbs/dust ?
You'd end up looking like the Pillsury Doughboy [encased all in white]
as all those foam beads would be sticking to you either from the
static electricity or heat induced rivers of sweat...

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Thanks everybody !!! The wife is back home and hasn’t yet seen the FS ... We’ll see her reaction when she gets up ... :NC

That Hot wire scoop does seem like the least messy alternative ... goodness knows , I have foam dust /beads EVERYWHERE ... :o Don’t need anymore of that ... :frightened:

Back to more sanding today , and a chance to start on the rear framing ... supposed to rain again ... if it does , we’ll just stay inside and CLEAN the Studio (It’s a WRECK!!! :frightened: ).... I think all the really messy bits are done now (hopefully) ... at least Inside ... and the band is due back on Monday ... :o So much still to do ... I really need to get something going like Eagle did ... get some Helpers !!! ;)
Anybody wanting to show up at my house and help sand , I’d be more than glad to share my Beer and Pizza... Heck , it’s worth a try eh ?

 Having friends to help is the only way to go!

If we lived closer I would be there in a heart beat.

Now, anyone want to come help me clean the pool? I drained it completely and have been cleaning the liner. Still some dirty yucky water in there which I am down to now using a sponge to soak up and get rid of. should be done this morning (while its still somewhat cool out) and then the refilling begins.

Eagle , thanks , you’re always welcome here ... especially to help sand ....

Here’s what I showed the wife this morning ... cleaned it up a bit more before the preview ... She Liked it !!! :P

I was carrying on about filling the seams and making everything really smooth ... and she said ... “ That’s not necessary, it doesn’t have to be Perfect ! “ :o She’s more into what the Inside looks and “feels” like rather than having a Beauty exterior ... and the Comfort ... so for now we’ll have a functional exterior and a Comfortable interior ... or so the High Commander decrees... Works for me ...

Now then .... time for a coffee break ... :D

Snuck out for a quick pic , pause in the rain ... yet another test ...Gripper in the rain ...

Ps. my Guitar buddy just offered me some 1/16” diamond plate ... FREE!!! :o

Rain stopped briefly , ran outside , and surprisingly the Gripper didn’t go runny ... :o Still looks like I just put it on ... somewhat tacky still , as to be expected ... tried some drywall joint compound as a filler , that stayed too ... 8)

Rain stopped for several hours allowing the joint compound filler test to set up ... dried hard as a rock .. sheetrock... gave it a quick sand ... Nice, this stuff spreads like butter' ... ... so I did some more and ran out of mud’ ... Will get some more tomorrow ... about to rain again now ... :rainy: covering it back up ... ;)

The short aft located roof extension I mentioned would be
similar to the one on this:

Norm , good idea !!!.... we’ll deal with that when the time comes , lots more to do before we get to that part ... Actually I was thinking about a little fold out awning over the door ... something Simple .. ;)
Today (if it doesn’t rain , which it is supposed to do) we start on the rear framing ... a little woodworking ... here is a drawing I was working on to help me understand what I wanted to do ... Still a little complicated for my taste , but I’m sure it’ll all come together once we start the actual building ... hopefully !!!

Just got back from the store ... checked on the nose and now that the sun has been shining on it a couple hours , it’s dried pretty hard ... the filler ...
Being optimistic , bought a gallon of joint compound (10 bucks ) ... waaay more than enough for some little filling on the FS , and plenty left for when we re-paint the inside of the house ... soon ... :o (soon as I finish the FS , which may take quite some time ...  ) the dried filler sands easily and produces a nice surface for the FGT to adhere to ... and then the canvas...
BTW , I broke down and bought a sander for the job , third sheet B&D ... Inexpensive , but will surely help save the old arms ... still Lots to sand ...

And now , the back framing ... getting out the chop saw ... woodworking time .... :D

BTW , while I was in the tool aisle at the store , saw a Scotch Brite Paint and Rust stripping wheel (large area), like you put on your drill , thinking this would be good for inside foam carving , I got one .... Just tried out ... Whoa!!! this thing literally Eats foam , gnawing away at the excess VERY quickly ... :o Should be easy to carve the inside out with this , but what a Holy Mess it makes :frightened: ... Have to wear a Hazmat suit and keep the shop vac handy ... But it’s QUICK , and actually works nicely ... if you don’t mind looking like a snowman after a couple minutes ...

More pics ... the mud applied and drying , the mud sanded (up close) and the back -priming of the door/wall framing wood ... also got the passenger side lower panel to match the lower nose ... just more sanding ... :?

Ps. the Gripper works Super for priming wood ... sticks like crazy , dries very quickly ...
