Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

My needs for a foamie keep changing. I recently aquired a very clean older 4x4 mini truck. So that has gotten me thinking about truck back campers instead of just a teardrop trailer. Anyway Here is a link to a thread on another forum. This is foamie taken over the top and is related to another thread here in the foamie section. It's really got the wheels spinning in my head. You and I are on the same thought flow.

My idea was to take off the box, build/buy a flatbed and then build up from a flat, wide deck.

The Aussies figured this out a long time ago. Look for 'tray top' campers.

On most frames the 'axle' hump is quite low. That would translate into a lower top for a camper.

Instead of working around the wheel wells you have more flexibility in your design.

I've gone a different route though. I bought an '89 'Toyota uhaul' , google it you'll know what I mean. I don't have the time to do a frame-up build right now.

Nice find! I like the build method - quite close to my thoughts about
Foamie construction, though I was thinking more of fabric-n-glue-n-
paint for the exterior finish. 'Will have to look into that polyurea more
closely - if it isn't outrageously expensive it looks like a good approach.
I think I saw somewhere that it was a form of truck bed-liner? - like I
said, need to look more into it. 'Will have to check back on that link
now and then to see what they've done on the interior.

I looked at that link again and got the link to Uro-Cover, the builder
of the Uro-Camper PU Camper. The web site is quite interesting. Check
out all the pics and video and other section/links. It's in Spanish, but
the web site has a translation set up - just hit on the UK/British flag in the
upper right corner area and it'll translate the page into English. Note:
the very short video shows a glimpse of the interior.

P.S. OOPS! I got carried away by enthusiasm at the initial page and

They show the interior in splendid detail! That makes me even more
intrigued.

Big Dan, There is a lot of discussion about the Flippacs on that same forum. A member there is a dealer. I understand they do things a little better than the manufacturer. As far as cust service anyway. That's what I've read. No personal experience. They don't make one that fits my odd ball bed and I need to carry canoes on the roof. So not a good fit for me.

Ya I think I read the same thread you did about the hinge cracking. They are asking $1000 more than the factory dealership. I need to talk to the main dealer and see what kind of warranty they have for thier product. Great Idea thoe. It would realy fit well with my kind of camping.
