New Camper build-update 8/5/12

Hi everyone!

I had so much fun on the boat project, I decided to try to crank out a small standy trailer. My donor trailer was a 1969 Camel Pop-up.

I managed to salvage the sink, avacado green stove, and an Icebox. I think for this build all I will be using is the sink. It looks a little gross in the picture but it will clean up ok.

The trailer frame was 6' x 6' after a few modifications it is now 6'2" x 7'10" with a dropped floor, a tongue box support and a light rear bumper.

Out of respect for KCStudlys workmanship I will not show any close-up of my welds . Although, there is a steel shop next door to my house and the owner came to inspect the trailer last night before I painted and said it would work. I felt better.

Man, KC makes some pretty welds.

Anyway here is a far away shot of the frame in process and one of it last night when I painted.

OH please NOOOO! I grew up in a house full of avocado green. Hate that color!!!! :? :? :?

I'm impressed... you've got welding skills. I had to rely on my neighbor for the minor welding I had to do to my frame.  July 17 is just around the corner. That's an impressive turn time. Go for it! 8) 8)

Sweet! Another Rosey build. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Looks like you got good bones for the start.

Well that's mighty nice of you to say, but enough about me. This is your build and we are all looking forward to it. From what I can see you've got skills, too.

Please tell us more about your plans, profile, features, arrangement, etc.

This is going to be good. :D

Rosey , it sounds like the both of us are building similar trailers , if you don’t have the foam yet , let me know .... we can get it wholesale from Branton Ind. ( Edwards Ave. Harahan ) , by going through the guitar company ... Combined into a larger order , we may also get a price break ... Thrifty ... more money left to stock the trailer with Beer and Hubig’s pies .... 8) :D

Glen, That sounds good! I think I am going to be ready to buy foam in the next couple of days, Monday at the latest. How is your timeline looking?

I’m good to go , I’ve been saving up just for this ... I already checked with Vinnie ,and he said it was fine with him to purchase under his company name /tax# ... so we should (?) easily be able to beat the box stores prices ... 8) Just a matter of driving out there and loading the truck up ... we can use my pickup truck which will comfortably fit a 4’X8’ sheet (s) I’m thinking of getting 10 sheets that should be 20” high , (2” ) the truck should easily hold twice that much ... You’ve seen how much stuff we cram in there for the band ... :frightened:
I’ll be busy the next few days retrieving “her worship” from NJ , and doing her bidding , but I’ll make the arrangements , Monday is probably best for me ...

Sounds good! I get off work at 7 am, and will be off Mon and Tues
If it works for you I could probably go shortly after I get off work or early afternoon. Gotta get a nap in someplace or I get cranky :). At least that's what I hear. If you want to go early I'd buy you breakfast at the oak st cafe. The po-po platter is pretty good :)

Thanks for the breakfast offer , but sadly I’m on a severe Diet ... :o Lost 15 # already ... been grazing in the Produce aisle ... Monday is pretty clear AFAIK... anytime , mornings probably being better , but maybe after 9:00 AM , CCC Bridge traffic is awful before that from this side (the Western half of the United States) ... :frightened:
