That would be cool for cabinets. Here's the progression. I tested the poly and poly/stain on the test floor first. I needed to see how to layer it for best effect. They way I thought it would work didn't.96693 So I did 2 layers of the water based poly I had from redoing my stairs 96694 then did a coat of poly/stain I had that the kids like the color of. Only got one coat on. Need to run to HD to get another can of it. 9669596696 Looks pretty good though. No all my wrinkles worked out and everything repuckered when I put down the poly so it will lay flatter when it dries hopefully :worship:
Hope all the pics aren't boring anyone.

96697 2nd coat of the poly and stain. I am using polyshades by Minwax?? They don't carry my color anymore that I started with. (That can was very old.) So we went with what they call pecan. It's alittle redder and darker but got the seal of approval from the girls.

the masking tape alfeady. has adhesive on it so it didn't pucker. I wonder if you used glue stick to put the paper down then poly over it if it would work.

We always dampen the paper and use a T2 like glue ... poly over that ... covered many a smooth foam wing with kraft paper and Elmers ... applied damp and smoothed out initially , the paper shrinks to a tight finish ... Can’t do that with just poly ...

Doesn’t Everybody have Spell Check ??? Every time I misspell a word (often) I get a red line under it ... and a simple right click on the word produces the correct spelling ... After all , Nobody’s Perfekt!!!

the sad part is that this stuff was my job. i was office personel management supervisor! typing was my fortay (thats probably not the way to spell that one either LOL). now i can't even use my caps where they should go. once i retired, i got lazy with the keyboard.

oh well, like bonnie said: have a happy friday everyone! :wine:
