Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

So I shot some paint yesterday, which is largely irrelevant. But as part of my day was available and I sometimes need a distraction, I decided to build a bodyboard. For what it's worth "Boogie Board" specific brand like Kleenex or Xerox, but who really cares, right?
So on with the pictures...
All I can get around here is 1" so I glued up the scrap from my build
Then laid out a design. I'm no spiffy pro board shaper but the inter web seems to have some information if one cares to look
Now all that's left is to cut it out...

But that's not all!
A basic sanding and shaping of the outline and round the nose...
Then cut the 'rails' it's a 60/40 if anyone cares. Means 60% is the bottom angle! again who cares.
And after a bit of sanding...

Add some channels , this is the underside in the rear
And a crescent tail, as opposed to a bat wing.
And we are ready for canvas paint and waves

Question or rather statement with openness to correction.
TBII, followed by 'gripper' and Rust-o marine topside paint. Sound good?

Rog, just my 2 cents ... FWIW ... In the initial construction of the 12’ paddle boards (another story ), the plan was to also add some strips of fiberglass drywall tape in several layers lengthwise top and bottom under the fabric covering for added Strength... It adds very little weight , and doesn’t show under the fabric as to be a distraction (and it’s cheap and easy) .. That may also be a good idea on your board too ... Might as well make it to last , you’ve done a Fine job doing the shaping ...

Good call on the tape. I will give that some thought . I'm going to use bed sheets for the covering, going for a slick surface. Maybe canvas on top though to reduce compression dings. Are we talking about the , locally yellow, self adhesive 'tape' that looks like strips of window screen?

Against the question...

Tightbond 2- then gripper- rust-oleum 'topside' marine (extremely limited color options )

If I can't find the Rusto Topside- what paint to use? Rusto oil enamel?

I'm not familiar with the Rust-o marine, but the TB2 and Gripper are a proven combination. Based on past experience with the brand, so long as the marine version is compatible, I would think it would be a great choice.

Maybe rowerwet will chime in. He has a lot of foam boat building experience, with successes and failures in paint application. I'd have to look back at his stuff to be sure, but I think porch paint was one of his 'go to' top coats. I would only imagine a dedicated marine paint to be better.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the Gripper is water based, so it will stay somewhat flexible? What is the Rust-o marine? If it is an epoxy base won't that dry to a hard shell? I really have know idea.

Rog, yes the cheap window screen looking stuff from the hdwe. store... a roll’s a couple bucks , more than enough for the job ...
You can always use Gloss latex EXTERIOR paint ... Let it “cure” for a week or two before using it and you shouldn’t have any problems... ... and it’s very compatible with all the other materials on the board ... If you use sheets , easy to apply a couple layers for even More strength ...

Sheets going on. I did put down a layer of fiberglass tape. After finding an 'extra thin' variety.

Not surprisingly the sheet material is much easier to work than 8oz canvas!

First I placed a bit of protection for the nose, and shaping it was a pain, not in the nose but a pain none the less
And covered the bottom with cloth , too bad I can't keep the fairies

Trial run. A very small wave day, but it tends to be that way this time of year. But the leopard sharks were in town, so we swam with them.
The board seemed to hold up well. Now clean up and paint.
