Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am going to try to build with no wood by making the shell with a Fiber Reinforced panel-PLS40 polyurethane,1" extruded polystyrene(the pink stuff) and Titebond II-canvas sandwich. The FRP should be strong enough to mount most things with 1/4 plastic trim board as reinforcement glue on with PLS 40 I think?
Has anyone try this?
Has anyone used a foam sandwich floor?
Floor sandwich with canvas on the bottom and FRP on the top?
Strong enough with center bar making 2 foot squares?
6" cantilever for 5-wide on 4-wide ?
This is my second build. It is for fun. Gets me off my butt.

“Is to be seen “ ... No worries , everything gets tested around here, so you’ll be the "tester” ...
Personally I’d use the 2” thick foam with all that ... Foam is the lightest part of the equation , and twice as thick is 8 times as strong ...

I agree 2" would be better I will look at using 2" on the floor.

I hope I did the right. Gluing the canvas on.
Sand a little ,wipe with ammonia, mix half gallon Titebond II with half gallon water, paint foam with TB, lay out canvas, smooth with gloved hands,pore TB on top and level with hands then squiggle out extra glue out and hand level again.

Then Paint with latex paint?

Ammonia?

When I made a solar collector with coroplast(polypropylene cardboard) Ammonia remove the surface tension or some thing like that.Polypropylene is very hard to glue. I thought it wouldn't hurt.

I would have used the glue straight out of the bottle under the canvas, and after that dried gone straight to primer and paint on top. $0.02

Others have had good results doing it the way you did, so you should be fine.

What is this profile called? My last TD was almost Benroy. so I am interested in what this would be called.

I thought I had the hump a little more toward the front
I was going for a rounded shape to increase the strength of the roof. As a newbie to foam-canvas build One's greatest fear it at 80 MPH it blows apart.
Is there a trick(type of glue)to jointing the sheets of foam to make a 5 wide roof. Do you seam every 4' or down the middle?
Too cold this week to do lot (HI -3/low-13) Cost to much to keep the garage warm for gluing.

Personally I would waste the foam by cutting 4' x 5' sections to span the full width.
Splice the pieces for other less critical areas....

Here in Idaho and Utah they just raised the freeway speed limit to 80MPH last year.

80MPH ..... Difficult to determine whether that is WISE or just Popular ...


Perhaps , if the intention is to tow at high speeds , then you might want to investigate Foam Aircraft construction as applied to camper trailers ... Those safely go 200 mph + ...

Some states have restrictions on vehicles while towing, including reduced speed limits and allowable travel lane. Not saying that they are strictly enforced, just saying.
